f**ked tranny?

Does anyone know if anyone has reported a tranny problem already on the 5AT. I think my car is starting to show some possible signs!

..

i was on my normal drive home from work. And i stopped at a 7-11. I got back in my car and used the Sport Shifter, tryin to merge into traffic i gave it some gas and the engine seemed to rev out. Like i did not want to grab the gear. So i stopped, and put it back into AT. Started off a light and the same thing happened. It seems if i ease on the gas it will grab slowly. But then as soon as i tryin to accelerate it jumps high in the RPMs and wont grab....Seems messed up to me...ill be at acura tomorrow.

There is already a TSX automatic transmission failure complaint on file with the NHTSA:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/p...laintsearch.cfm

Make : ACURA Model : TSX Year : 2004
Crash : No Fire : No Number of Injuries: 0
ODI ID Number : 10051870 Date of Failure: December 15, 2003
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Summary:
WHILE PROCEEDING TO ENTER THE INTERSTATE TRANSMISSION FAILED, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. *AK

As for me, I am still waiting for the Acura dealer to give me a call to pick up my car. Its been in at the dealer since Tuesday to get the alignment checked and steering wheel knocking noise fixed. I want my TSX back!

u should be able to get a loaner man.. just gotta ask them, or im sure they'll ask u first, and i heard some stuff about the transmission on automatics, bro i dont think u should switch from manual to automatic while driving. if you want to, i suggest when the cars at full stop...

If you are having problems with the tranny, the warranty will definitely cover it. I don't know for how long, but ths TSX model existed for a little less than a year, so I'm sure the warranty is still valid.

And of course you have to ask for a loaner.

I wouldn't say anything to the dealer except you think the shit is broke!
If you tell them something that even makes them possibly think you are at fault, you will probably get the short end of the stick. Jus tell them the car is fuc*ed and you need it fixed...the less you say, the better off!

Also, they might blame you for racing the car or something, but don't let them accuse you of that. The warranty will probably be voided if you said you raced your car. The dealer might not even fix it or charge you to get the tranny replaced.

cmf explained it well.

there is nothing to worry about switching between manumatic and auto mode...if you had to stop to do it..it's pretty useless. and i'm not sure how they are gonna void your warranty with an auto..unless you did neutral drops, there is nothing you can do to the tranny to break it... you cant misshift an auto, you can't over rev (you can't do it in manual either i guess), you can bounce off fuel cut off all day and it shouldnt harm the car...its there for a reason.. maybe you guys got the TL trannies

Of course you can overrev a manual tranny! Just stick it in the wrong gear when downshifting. Just because the computer shuts off the fuel, doesn't mean the wheels going 60 mph cannot over rev the engine.

Icey, You may need to be patient with your local dealer. Remember, they cannot fix what they cannot duplicate. However, your car is warrantied for 4 years so do not worry about that.

i was referring to his auto that cant be mis-shifted or over reved... and i meant even in the manual u can't over rev just by slamming on the gas..you're gonna have to miss-shift/wrong gear.

Of course you can do it - SS is just an electronic switch that says 'shift now', nothing more. You're not manually doing anything mechanical when you tell it to shift in SS. And the computer won't let you put it in 1st gear at 70 mph, so gilbo's right about not being able to over-rev it.

Update

My dealership just ordered my new tranny. They told me that it has to be shipped and could take about 1 week.

12,567 Miles And Tranny is shot.

Sorry dude. You see, if you had not changed your interior lighting, none of this would have happened. It's all your fault!
