850 lbs. maximum weight capacity!

I notice on the drivers side door frame and in the manual it states a maximum weight capacity of 850 lbs for cargo and passengers. That doesn't seem like much at all. Like many people i'm not at my ideal weight. Myself and 3 friends probably would just clear that mark. What kind of damage would this do over time, say every day in the TSX. The average weight of an american male is around 180 lbs, so even 5 average passengers (the amount of passengers that fit in a TSX) just exceed the TSX's weight rating. That doesn't sound like much room for cargo and towing at all.

Are you kidding me? That is ridiculous if it can't even hold 5 people that weighed 175lbs. What are the effects? (The other thread didn't mention this)

I would like to know too. When overloading a car, will it cause damage to the car's suspension and ride over time?

That would make people feel uncomfortable. The best is 4 people with 212.5 lbs max for each!

That we need to test it out. But, I don't think anyone are willing to use their lovely car for experiment like that.

Ask your dealer. It's probably on the safe side, but exceeding it by 25%+ for a long time in hard driving (lots of leaning on one side or the other) probably isn't good...
