someone help me here, i see exhaust systems and i see cat backs. what is the difference

Cat back describes how much of the OEM exhaust system is replaced by the aftermarket exhaust system.

So when it says Cat back they are saying that the system replaces the stock exhaust system from after the Catalytic Converter all the way back.

 

so does that mean if i dont get catback im just getting loud piping?

 

Every aftermarket exhaust sytem for the TSX that I've seen is a full cat back system.

If you don't get a catback, it means, that the system would replace less of the exhaust system and you would have more stock piping in those places.

 

yea cause im thinking about getting the greddy sp2 exhaust, its not catback i dont think and i havent talked to anyone on here with that system so i wasnt sure

 

if it's not a cat, it's prob an axle-back exhaust. though i don't think greddy or any company makes an axle-back for the tsx

 

Im Fairly sure the GReedy is a Cat-Back... ChyllinTSX on the other forum is parting out his car soon, so you may be able to pick one up slightly used for a good price

 

on tsxparts.com they sell the sp2 exhaust for 645$$ i thought that was a pretty damn good price and evo2 cat is 719$
