Engine sound
Engine sound
does anyone notice that engine sound gets lounder as more you drive your car, i remember that the car has much quiet engine sound when i got it on the first day. why? is it because i drove too hard and the engine just gets lounder overtime?
I'm betting you are due for an oil change. I've noticed on several occasions how much quieter the car gets with some fresh oil in it. It's one of the reasons I'm thinking of going synthetic....

odd, my engine is just the exact opposite. It's getting quieter and quieter, when I was under 10k miles, I could hear the engine even sitting in idle in the garage. Now I can barely hear the idle. Sweetest thing is, now I can actually hear the ivtec activate at 6000rpm
The weather also affects your engine, either cold or hot, generally it's smoother in cold weather

The way I checked my engine back then was I would pull out the check oil meter stick, you will for sure get tons of blackish stuff all over the stick. Wipe it clean then stick it back down, wait maybe 500-1000 miles, repeat the step. Gradually you'll see less of those blackish substances. You will also notice your oil turning more brownish, dont worry about that, that means the engine is on the right track breaking in. Acura put detergent type of oil so the engine can break-in properly, you wouldnt want to change that oil out until the engine is fairly broken-in. If you do a search on BREAK-IN, you should be able to find tons of threads on this. The engine is loud cuz it's still breaking in, once it's done, you'll love the sound

Follow the manual. It specifically says not to change the oil too early the first time because of the break-in oil that comes in your new TSX.
