Engine Immobilizer

I was wondering if anyone has had or knows anyone that owned a car with an engine immobilzer to have it stolen before. Does it really deter thefts? BTW I just recently purchased a SSM TSX and I love it except for the monthly payments Can someone also tell me how the immobilzer on the TSX works? Is it the same one as the ones in the American accords?

All Hondas have the same immobilizer desgin. Any kinda of anti-theft deterent will help increase the time it takes a thief to steal a car so the more you have the less likely your car will be a target for the average thief. But move up to professional thieves and all the sudden the best anti-theft you have is car insurance. Haven't you seen Gone In 60 Seconds?

If someone wants your car bad enough all they would need to do is load it on a flatbed and drive off. They'll fiddle with your anti-theft when they get it back to their garage.

But anyways, the Honda immobilizer not only disables the ignition but also cuts off fuel (so not hot wiring for you!). It's a pretty common design.
