Engine bay cleaning!

Engine bay cleaning!

Hello,

I need to clean the engine bay of my 07 TSX w/ Nav. Anyway, I was planning on using Meguiars APC diluted 10:1, scrub, and then power wash it off. I guess my question is, should I be concerned about not getting anything in specific wet?

If it's electronic, don't get it wet. If it's an air filter, don't get it wet. To clean your engine bay, I'd suggest using whatever soap you want then pure water on another rag to get the soap off. I generally just use water and everything comes off fine. It takes a while, but it's just water and elbow grease so I don't get in a hurry. I find that back-to-black, or another similar product makes the black under the hood look really nice.

Leave the car running, spray on cleaner avoiding electrical elect , whip down surface areas avoid any moving parts ,pullys elect. then lightly spray off the engine and leave running till it drys.

Did this 100 time's when i was detailing for a dealer ship never had a problem.

I wouldn't leave the engine running while hosing it down with water. You can risk warping the head. Wash only when the engine is cold and off, and then leave the engine running after the wash is done.

x2, do not do this while the car is running. The engine should be cool to the touch.

x3 The last thing you want is to spray a 200+ degree engine block with water. I'm an inspector for BASF and have seen the effects of water quenched lines and vessels first hand. There are tons of problems that doing that could create.

Power/pressure wash is not recommended in the engine bay. Just a brush and some soap will do the job. Use a regular water hose and rinse. Electrical connectors are all sealed with rubber insulators to protect/resist moister that are common while driving in the rain with ac fan on.Power wash will force water through them. Do not flood water over electrical/fuse box.
For me, I would just leave the hood open and let it air dry completely before starting the engine just in case.
