this is so outdated, but i feel the need to post this. maybe its my fault for skimming threads too much instead of reading, but ive spend the past 12 months of my life trying to get the radio to mute like you all have said. i have double clicked the steering wheel buttons and the knob, etc... ONLY to find out the other day that you were all talking in reference to when you JUST START THE CAR! ahhhhhhh! i thought i was going to go insaine trying to figure this out and the other day i accidentally slapped my hand against the knob when i was moving around after starting the car, and saw it muted. my mouth was on the floor for about 10 minutes...

PS - 1st post
I use it everyday. When I get home, the volume is at 17-20 due to high speed on the highway. When I leave the house, I preffer 10-15 because there's no wind noise, and I want to listen to the news (NPR). It's a neat feature.

We all know about the dashboard dimmer, but alas! It doesn't work with the clock, radio display, and AC controls, and those stay on unless you shut them off, well except the clock of course.
Well here ya go....
When the radio is on just hold down the CD/AUX button for a few seconds and you will hear a beep through your speakers and voila! All lights are completely off yet all systems are functioning!!!
I discovered this when trying to figure out if it is possible to display the time on the song you're listening to when using the CD player. I know it's there, you see it when scanning a song. Why can't we change the display??!!
Tried this with the '04 Navi... also works!

Here's one

I just figured out the "speed sensitive" wipers. I always thought that speed sensitive was refering only to the variable speed settings on the wipers, but it is something more:

If you set the variable wipper speed on the last postion counter clockwise (most frequent wipes) the wipers run at the slow speed, always on speed, BUT they automatically switch to variable speed with a 4 second pause between wipes when you stop the car. Also when you are set at other intermintent speeds, the pause between wipes is 50% greater when the car is stopped. I actually timed it the other morning. (I guess that makes me a sicko).

WOW, THATS PRETTY COOL!

Hidden Storage Spot

Ok, probably old news to the vets out there, but for us rookies...

You'll find two credit card holders underneath the top layer of the armrest. You'll also find what I believe is a pen holder/clip.

You'll find another pen holder/clip (or maybe a tire gauge?) under the botom layer of the armrest.

I checked the owners manual to see if they had a specific description of what each clip is used for, but it is not mentioned.

Consequently, this applies to the 05's. I assume it's in the '04 as well.

I definitely am gonna check this out. Not too keen about leaving credit cards in my car but the tire gauge spot would be nice.

That is actually supposed to hold the wire for your cellphone charger. Feel free to use it as a pen holder if you wish.

Rather than for credit cards, I think the more appropriate intended use may be for parking garage access cards. Something tells me they wouldn't intend on people leaving their credit cards in their car. What sense would that make (especially for security purposes)?

Yes, us 04 owners have known about this for a whole year.

This thread has been very interesting and I had to try the window and headlight tricks. Sure enough if your turn the key clockwise once and then twice and hold it, all the windows come down and if you do it opposite, they call go up. I turned my lights on and lock the doors using the FOB and in about 10 seconds they switched off. One thing I did notice is that the light flickered once when I locked the doors. Nice features.........

The 4 dits in morse is the letter "H", wheather it has that meaning in the TSX, I doubt it. What would the "H" stand for? And who would know??

First post... so be gentle.

I'm still awaiting delivery of my TSX, but I borrowed a manual from the dealership so I could bone up on the car before she arrived. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere in the manual...

The top arm rest of the centre console slides forward and backward for your driving comfort.

WOWIE! I 'm learning alot from this thread. I tried the windows-up thingie at lunch today. Works great. The car radio lights turn off when clicking CD/XM twice, but really just seem to be very low . Have to check it again at night time.

Shame the radio doesn't keep the same decible level like the more fancy-shmancy cars like Mercedes. I wonder how much effort that would take? I hate having to turn the radio up and down as I go from hyway to slower roads.

Ya lazy bum.

having the volume control on the steering wheel is too much work for you?

Actually, I agree. I wish it had the auto volume adjustment too.

You all probably know about this but I thought it was so cool when I found it. When the Navi system is on auto and the headlights are turned on it goes to night mode, but if you crank up the dash lights, boom! Back in Day mode. I think this is great for driving in the rain or at dusk.

Thanks!

I just picked up my TSX Service Manual today and I'm pouring over it as we speak. I'll post any neat diagnostic "easter eggs" (for lack of a better term) when I find them. I spotted one regarding displaying climate control sensor values... stay tuned!

For those of you who have been contemplating a service manual purchase, I highly recommend it - it has EVERYTHING! It even tells you how to re-upholster your seats!

$69.00 US is a bargain. For some strange reason Honda Canada charges about $200.00 CDN for it - still worth it in my opinion.

Elaborating on this one, I discovered there is a 10-click buffer. In other words, if I'm going 60, and I want to go 70, I can click ACCEL 10 times real fast, and it will clime to 70. I tested trying to go more than 10 though, and it still only went 10. The buffer might actually be like 8 or something, but clicking at a relatively fast pace, I can go up or down 10 MPH using this technique. Pretty cool.

I have a new one related to this for the '05 model: The above still works (on Navi anyway) and also, if you hold down the AUDIO button while on XM, it will display a different thing in the segmented area above the Navi. You can cycle from the default which shows your station number, to station type, station title, name (artist), and title. It even remembers your setting when you turn off the car. I have mine set to "title" which displays the song artist, or on the comedy channels, the comedian's name. It stays on the display all the time now, so I don't have to put the Navi screen on Audio to see who I'm listening too if I miss it when it scrolls across the one time after the title changes. Pretty handy.

Anyone know how to leave the XM radio station info text on in a 5AT? I do not have an Audio button. Would really like this one!

yes, as opposed to the 6mt, just press the 'XM Text' button on the 5at shifter. The button should be on the rear of the stalk. If you press that it will do the special feature of leaving the text on the screen (only available on the 5at tsx of course).

Be careful though, if you press the button below it will reset all your presets! Thats one of the drawbacks of the 5at... I dont know why they didnt add this to the 6mt. Crazy Acura design people man...

I drove an '05 5AT, and didn't see anything like this. Can you take a picture of this?

Cool

ugh... It was a joke because whoever made the initial post, pointed out that theirs was a 5at. as if the radio or car is different and might have a specific method to keep the text on the screen than a 6mt.

i am however not joking about the button. but seriously, look behind your shifter and you will see it. let me know what color yours is.

I guess I don't like it. When you say min, I assume you mean silent. When I turn the radio on I sometimes spin the wheel a bit and do what was mentioned earlier and stop the progression of sound and get silence. If you mean that you get some value that's minimal but audible, I'm doing something wrong.
