Driving Position

For those of you who have had your TSX's for a while, how is the driving position? I am 6'2", 220lbs and I have not had a chance to test drive one yet. Our closest dealer is 40miles south in Ventura. Why there isn't one in Santa Barbara is a real puzzle to me. I am curious about headroom with the moonroof, seat comfort etc.

You can't always go buy the published numbers. I test drove a Mazda 6 and found the driving position to be excellent for me, better than a 3 series BMW even. That was the only thing I liked about the car though, set comfort was marginal. I have just barely enough headroom in the '03 Accord Coupe with the seat reclined a bit, the '03 sedan is better.

Thanks in advance.

I find the tsx to be very comfortable. I am 6 ft 220 and I have plent of room. The armrest is adjustable, which i love, so then you can cozy right in. Plenty of leg room, and plent of head room. the seat adjust 8 different ways. I know a good dealer to go to if you are in chicagoland!

I'm 6'2", 190. I found plenty of room in the driver's seat. Plenty of headroom and seat travel. The telescoping wheel really helps, and your hand falls right on the shifter.

I remember reading somewhere that the TSX was designed to fit drivers up to 6'4", but I forgot where...

Wink

I just got back from my first test drive of a new TSX, I currently have a '99 Acura 1.6EL, for those that aren't familiar with what that is, it is a Canadian only Acura model based on a Honda Civic (take a Civic sedan, give it a different front and rear styling treatment, cram it with every luxury item that will work in it and add some performance bits from the Civic Si coupe) I have to say after driving the TSX, that if you can't find a comfortable driving position, you must be built very differently than most of the driving population. I am 5'9" and very long in the torso, so having the telescoping steering wheel will be a godsend, the seat has infinite adjustments for height, rake, backrest angle, and fore and aft distance. I sit high in the saddle, and I had no problems with the sunroof taking up any head room. I found the seats to be incredibly comfortable for the 45 minutes I had the car, just the right blend of cushiness and support. Go try one and see for yourself, I think you'll like it.

man, all you 6 + footers must have some freakish body imbalances.. I'm 6'2", and my head is about 1/2 inch form the roofline, with my hair constantly brushing against it.. do-able but not really ideal. (and this is after adjusting the seat and steering wheel for ideal positioning).

You all must have some short torsos and long legs then if none of you guys are having problems. (or maybe I'm the one with a freakishly long torso and short legs).

OK, let's choose up sides for football.

I go first. I'll take Lurch, BrandonK, Clutch, Wiz, Hondamike and TSXfan.

Game over.

Well I have longer legs and a short torso, although I'm right at 6'. I have the seat set all the way back on the track, so it makes it hard for somebody to sit behind me if I don't move the seat up a bit. I have the seat almost all the way down on the ground, and angled a bit forward. The steering wheel is set to come all the way out and about halfway down for the tilt. I have exceptionally long arms though (like a 6'4" wingspan) so it's easy for me to reach the steering wheel. Oh, and not to mention I wear I size 14 shoe, so I can hit all the pedals easily (as well as my other foot if I don't pay attention).

One of the big selling points was the fact that my big ass shoe could fit in between the wall and the brake pedal to hit the gas without any problems. On the Saab 9-3, I had a hard time not hitting the brake when I went to hit the gas. Same thing with the Mazda6. The TSX is just right!

Well, I'm only 6ft 175 and I'm still trying out the settings on the seat, but I do like a high driving position and I'm currently running the seat at maximum height and I have about an inch clearance.
It'll be awhile before I settle on a final arrangement but its already clear the TSX is definitely not a Prelude.

You should be able to find a comfortable seat arrangement...

Boy, I know what you mean by referencing the Prelude. I tried sitting in one and there was no way I was going to fit, I never even test drove it. The worst car as far as room for me was the Miata, bring your own shoehorn for that car.

Thanks for all the replies, I just need to go test drive one now. Unfortunately for me the closest dealer is 45 miles south.
