when i go from 2-1, how come my car has a weird throttle.. am i suppose to still gas when i downshift?

 

The RPM's are shooting up because of a lower gear. That is normal.

 

There's no reason to downshift into first unless you're stopped.

 

If you're going from 2 down to 1, the car will make necessary allowances to prevent damage to the engine. This includes blipping the throttle to bring the engine speed up and hesitating the shift until conditions are right.
