Do you visually inspect your TSX?
Like everytime in the morning or after someone has parked next to you, or at the end of the day, do you guys visually inspect your TSX to see if there were any scratches, dings, or dents? I do and sometimes I wish they included side moldings, but I just got a garage now, but I'm sharing it with a guy who drives a 2nd generation CR-V. I park the car a little far from the CR-V, because not sure how big the doors swing open in that SUV. But, I don't want to damage the TSX too, when I back up the car and hit the side of the garage door, so I folded up my right side view mirror. I still visually inpsect my car in the work parking lot too. Maybe when I either get a 2nd car or when the TSX is already 1-2 yrs old I don't have to be as careful about the car.

Keeping emos out of
It's the first thing i do when i go outside in the morning. So far, there have been no scratches or dings from my neighbors. Since it's still summertime, i park in the carport, but in a few months the TSX will be going into the garage. We are planning to buy an older Civic soon and that will be the daily commuter car.

I don't own my TSX yet, but I plan on doing this. I can't really keep my eyes off of it when I see one anyway, so I think it'll just be kind of a natural thing. Hell, I do it with my current $16k car!

And what do you do if you see a ding?
How do you prove it was the person who was parked next to you earlier?
If the car is still next to you, and the ding lines up with their door, ok I can see it.
Alternatively, you could take paint chips from all the cars parked near you, and analyse the paint left on your car
And even if you can prove it - do you wait around and then insist that they pay for the ding? Looks to me like you might end up with more aggravation than its worth.
Bottom line - all this energy seems a waste at best, and an ulcer or punched nose at worse.
Having said this, I'm pretty unhappy about my MSM w/ just 6k, having a licence plate bolt mark which broke through the plastic on the bumper. The wife commutes in the car (I bike to work), so I really don't want to go down the path "Hey, Honey - did you see the crater on the bumper" "Why yes dear, I backed up into some POS" or "No, but I noticed it too after work today" Either way, I can't win, and my beauty has been deflowered nonetheless.

I always take a quick glance at both sides just to see that there are no dings or scratches. I try not to make it an obsession though.....or at least try. :P When I park in a public lot like at home depot or the mall....I look for the furthest spot possible in a corner if possible

I check both sides after parking. No dings yet (thank goodness). Not sure what I'd do if I found one. Not much I can do if there is one there but the parking spot is empty. If I saw a ding and could tell that the car next to me did it I'd be real tempted to leave a note (scribbled with my key on their door!!!!:devil

When I just got it I was completely OCD about it, but I still check it rather compulsively. I can probably tell you where every dirt-mark on the car is from memory right now.

i guess i'm not the only one. but, i guess this happens when you buy a new car. don't know who has bought a new car every 3-5 yrs, but this is my 1st new car again and i'm treating it like my prized possession or something

What get's me are people who go out and spend $40-50K on a car and beat the crap out of it. Then they go and look for sales so that they don't pay $5 too much for a pair of jeans.
It is like they think cars arn't assets, yet they pay a ton for them.
Funny thing is it usually the most "money consience" people. The ones that overthink every finacial movement, yet beat the crap out of the second biggest investment that they have (second to house).

I always checked for dings and dents and probably always will since this is my first car and I paid it all of myself. After my first ding at Costco when a shopping cart hit my car I didn't bother that much. Now and SUV hit my trunk and ran while I was at a hookah bar, what can I do? Then I had my car towed and didn't even bother looking for mess ups. It's a new car and I love it, but I find it's more troublesome to worry everyday about what happens to your car then to just not care and enjoy the car before the next generation TSX comes out.
