Do you still park your TSX far or at an end spot?
I still do even if the car is 4 yrs old since I got it in Dec. 03. Now, I either park it far or still closer in a parking lot, but at an end spot near the parking lot curb. It's a sickness.
It doesn't matter what car I drive now, when I drove my folks MDX I parked it far or at an parking lot end spot near a curb too. Even the loaner car, gosh am I the only one who does this still?

I still park pretty far out too. I've gotten use to it though so it is no longer a problem for me. When I had my integra, I parked in the closest spots I could find...at the end of it's life, I had at the very least 10-15 dings all around that thing. I will not be letting the same thing happen to the TSX.

Depends on where I am... sometimes closest to the front makes me feel the car is a bit safer (had all of my last cars broken into, some more than once)... but if i'm somewhere that's relatively safe i'll park further from other cars and walk to wherever i'm going...
saves on the dings, and the hassles when getting in/getting out of spots...

Living the Dream
Been close to two years and I still do. On occasion I'll park closer but I pretty much have at least one side "protected"
I was living in an apartment when I first got it and forked over and extra $100/month for a garage.

I still do it all the time, my car or a loaner it doesn't matter....they all get parked in the middle of nowhere. I get crap for it, but hey, there's no scratches or dings on my car, so it must be working.

cant at school. The senior lot is just big enough for everyone to have a spot with a few left over, so i usually just park with the other TSXs or next to people i know so I wont get dinged....havent had one yet!

I just make sure I park near cars that will be less likely to ding mine and never in tight spots. I avoid parking near banged up shitboxes because those people obviously could care less. Giant ass SUVs are always a good indicator of some one who doesn't care about anything but their own ass, plus they frequently carry around a bunch of bratty kids who reflect the pompous selfish attitudes of their parents. Lastly, I avoid parking next to two doors just because the doors are so much more unwieldy.
This strategy has proven surprisingly effective throughout my life. I only had one ding on my old Civic, from some stupid woman getting out of her Suburban at the gas station, while I was standing 3 feet away. Thus far my TSX is flawless.

I always try to park in a corner with a wall to my right and another car to my left (or vice versa if the driver next to me backed into his spot).
Basically, my goal is to avoid exposing any side of my car to another car's driver door at the very least. However, if the opportunity arises, I'll definitely park out in the middle of nowhere. I usually don't get much shit for it, though, since I don't like other people sitting in my car anyway .

I try to park next to cars that look like they are being well taken care of. I try to stay away from two door cars because the doors of coupes are too long. Any type of SUV soccer mom looking vehicle I don't like to park next to because kids always open doors too wide. If we go to the movies/grocery store/mall, I just take my older honda accord.
I'll say about 60% of the time I will take a parking spot out of the way instead of trying to squeeze into a closer tight one.

I sure do. I did that just today in the parking garage at work. I bought my TSX in April 2003. Sadly, that didn't prevent a runaway shopping cart to put a big dent in my car earlier this year. :-)

over a year. if i'm by myself, yes. but i can't with my wife since she's pregnant, and walking is a chore for her at this point.
i definately over-analyze spaces and locations and try to avoid parking near beater cars.

I still do, and I don't have a ding on my 05. However, when an end spot or extra-wide spot isn't available, I always "profile" the cars next to an open spot. Are they beaters, is it a coupe, is it parked haphazardly, is it at a place where the person next to me will be leaving sooner than me, etc.
If all else fails, I park so that my mirrors are the first thing that get hit rather than my door.

I usually park at the end curb, where the only other car that can park next to me is on my driver side, so I have a chance that the next car that parks there doesn't have a passanger =). I also AVOID RED CARS!!! i hate red cars. My previous cars always had red dings and they stood out the most. I think parking close is okay, as long as the spot is wide enough.

Glad to see that there are so many fellow neurotics!
I piss passengers off whenever they sit in my car because they have to go the extra few hundred feet of walking. I could care less. I look at it this way, unless you want to pay for my door dings and the accelerated depreciation due to dings, you abide by my rules or don't get in my car.
One thing I'm discovering though, lots of people purposely park next to my car even though there are literally hundreds of open spaces elsewhere. Pisses me off.

I use to...., but I had a few incidents where I was "singled out" because my car was all by itself....., came out a whole foods that I was in for maybe 5 minutes......., and there was a football sized dent in my quarter panel.... no scratches.., Either some soccer mom backed into it with a suv with a spare on the back or someone simply just smashed it with there body/hand........... man was i pissed....
Also if you are out in the open it is easier to get hit by run away shopping carts...., I have seen this many, many times......, carts get bookin across a lot form wind or whatever...., and SMACK...., it hurts to watch......
So its a fine line...., really just need to park next to nice, new cars so you know your parking neighbors are worried about their car as well......

same here..
I'm the guy who parks two empty rows from everyone else...or the end spot as far away from the other car as possible.
People suck...I don't trust anybody.

I definitely park far away-- good exercise though! I'm used to it though as my guy still parks his '05 WRX at the end of the lot as he doesn't want dings (sure, a tree just fell on it, but it'll be shiny and new again when we get it back).
Gotta watch it though, if you're too far in the open, the idiots zipping through the middle of the parking lot could take you out. And you always need to be either 1 over or 3 spaces over-- if it's 2, someone *will* park next to you (people will generally take the middle spot between people). Those times when there's not much room, I definitely do the "ooh-- that shiny BMW won't hit me" thing too. Or like my hockey games-- parking gets pretty tight, but there's one guy whose car I know well, and I know he won't hit my car, so I squeeze way over in the space and leave extra "safe" room on the other side.
Speaking of protective-- it's 35° out, I think I'm gonna go wash off my car while I can.

I still do, and it's been more than 3 years since I got the car.

Make a hole, coming thru!
Ditto. The tale here recently of a guy whose TSX was slammed in the parking lot by a lady's shopping cart, who left the scene (but a bystander got the license tag), gives me chills. Every friggin' day, on the Hellbent Highway that is our major interstate, people drive with full disregard for anyone but themselves. I presume parking is the same. How many people do you see lumbering drunkenly around parking lots, cell phones glued to ears, not paying more than scant attention to their driving? I see them all the time....
So I generally park where others don't want to park, because it's not THAT inconvenient to walk a few 100 feet to a store, and I can also get OUT easier (less distance to a street entrance), not to mention I can FIND my blends-into-the-crowd ASM car.
At work, a teammate who drives an S2000, and a few others, park in border spots in the garage, and edge into the pedestrian zebra pattern, leaving lots of buffer. Knowing that they don't carry passengers, or are thoughtful of theirs and others' cars, I will "snug up" to them a little, leaving a thicker gap between my car and the opposite parking space line. Elsewhere in the garage, there are numbskulls who think their SUVs and Odysseys and Siennas will fit into "C" spots, leaving only a coupla feet on either side ... making it near impossible to get out without touching door edge to door panel.
And yes, I will often look for the more expensive car,but I will sooner park next to any car which is clearly being taking good care of (clean, waxed). Generalizing, anyone who cares for their car's appearance isn't going to habitually slam doors around. It just makes sense to park your upscale car around those people and not the marauders.

I used to either park next to a curbed space or try to get the widest looking one possible, near or far.
But, now I get the closest and widest spot you can get for the next two years. Because, I have a Handicapped placard!
Yes, it's for me, sorta bitter sweet though, sort of like......Yay & Awwww at the same time.

Far far away.
I love it when I follow a car into a fitness club, they signal and wait for a nearest spot, while I drive all the way back, park my car, and I enter the fitness club before the other guy does. Is it only me who find it funny that people still try to park as close as possible at a fitness club?
