Disconnect Power to Seats

Does anyone know if it would be possible to disconnect power (temporary) to the seat controls? Is there a power harness or something simple to disconnect? I want to avoid anyone changing my seat position.

you share your car with someone you don't like? i believe there's 1 plug undernearth the seat somewhere, you should check the helm's manual

I like it. I hate it when people adjust my seat. Unfortunately, they'd probably just drive that way anyway.

I'd like it for the car wash.

There's no need for the seat to move, just so somebody can drive an automatic 20 feet...

Just be very careful not to unplug the airbag harness.

Good point.

If I ever want to unplug the seats to take them off for a good complete carpet wash, obviously, I have to unplug everything to do this, what would I do? Disconnect the battery first?

If you disconnect the seat first, it will cause an airbag error code to be tripped and you'll have to go to the dealer to have it reset.

As long as you leave the key off while the airbag is unplugged, you will not set a code.

But have you seen some of the guys that work at those carwashes? If they don't move the seat, it'd be like trying to take an 8-foot wide amorphous blob and shove that into your car. Not something I'd like to see.

You will have a 31-1A DTC code stored in your ECU if your airbag is unpluged.

You just need to plug in the unlock code for your radio.

Around here they're almost exclusively little Mexican guys, or at the very least, smaller than me.

Usually I find myself having to put the seat back and down after one of them drives it.

Hmm...maybe that's just Venice. In Torrance, there were quite a few fat ones and I often had to move the seatback up and the seat forward.

Check the fuse box to see if there's a dedicated fuse for the power seat. If so, then simply wire a switch to it instead of cutting up the seat harness.

Good call JTso. Fuses 14 and 16 are dedicated to the power seat motors.

In that case, a DPDT switch should do nicely.

The harness is underneath the panels that run down the driver side. You have to take the lower panels off and get to the one that runs vertically in between the front and passenger doors.

I believe I saw the harness for the power seat when I was wiring my TV antennas to the brain of my TV tuner (which is mounted underneath the driver seat). But just pull the fuses like JTso said. This is by far the easiest solution!
