Based on the posters here, I'd bet most are no where in the target audience. That is, Acura targetting "affluent males making $80k between 30-40 years old". Yeah my numbers are off since it's from memory but look at the ages under the posters' names. Many of them are in high school with rich parents.

Wsklar, I always thought you were the wealthy heir to the Cheetos fortune. Clearly, you are the sort of affluent male that Acura is trying to target.

Precisely, I'm 22, but make good money by killing myself with overtime (i'm a paralegal). I don't spend money on things i dont need. So I can afford the TSX.

I remember there was a thread about occupation of a-tsx members (was in the now-conslidated Off-topic section), and I think a majority of the members are Engineers.
perhaps we should somehow organize a section to allow ppl to do some career networking. There's a career section in Off-Topic, but not sure if that's any good for networking.

What exactly is the target demographic of the TSX? I seem to recall one of the first TSX tv commercials (and billboards), which seem to put the TSX in the hands of someone moving up the ladder, but not quite at the top yet(still in a cubicle rather than corner office). Based on that image, it doesn't seem like someone that makes >$80k.

if I remember correctly, the press kit for the TSX back in 2003/2004 said the target audience was the young male 20-30 who was interested in entry-luxury and performance but wanted good value (read: not bmw). I don't have the word doc around anymore, but someone might.

Today's leading automotive designs are sporty and aggressive, and TSX buyers will recognize these cues in the newest Acura sedan immediately.
Acura TSX target buyer demographics:
percent male
Median age 33 years
55 percent married
85 percent college educated
$80,000 median household income
These young and affluent buyers have an emotional attachment to their cars, but require a rational base to support their purchases. The TSX supports both needs with its outstanding handling, strong engine performance, distinctive overall design character, and the world-class quality inherent in all Acura products.

I personally think that the better take on this poll would be to indicate your net pay (i.e. take home pay). Many posts in here mention that some areas pay you more than other areas. But more often than naught, the areas with the higher pay also have higher taxes.

Because you did it correct does not invalidate my point. I don't think you know any better than me how people have voted here.
In order to be accurate, the poll needs to be conducted again with stricter guidlines. Do dividends, real estate appriciation, and exchange rates count as income here? Then a margain of error needs to be calculated to account for people from FL.
I agree though, I am not sure what this poll is supposed to indicate....

I agree with you too, too many uncontrolled variables... I did specify 'single income', and I forgot about our board members outside of the US
well, it was meant to be a poll to get a general idea of the audience....nothing too official, you know? :troutslap

I was just watching tv and caught a Camry commerical that said something like the average new car price is 27K. I did not get to read the small print at the bottom to see where they cited this and what-not but has anybody else seen any information on what the average car price is? I remember that just within the past few years that the average went above 20K. I find it hard to believe that it's ballooned so quickly to 27K. That would be over what a TSX (no navi) goes for....

Does that new car price specify financing or leasing, though? Cause IMO that makes a difference.
