Delivery checklist

I'm about 4-5 weeks away from taking delivery of my CGP/QZ non-navi 6MT TSX. I realize that when the time comes for me to go to the dealer and take delivery of the vehicle, my emotion will probably overtake my common sense and all I'll want to do is drive the car off the lot. However, in order to avoid any premature visits to the dealer - are there any things, in particular, that I will need to check on the car before leaving the lot. I've read on the forum about a switch under/near the glovebox that has something to do with the trunk. Are there other little things like this that I need to be sure to check? I'd like to make a list so when I eventually do get the car I'll be able to check them off one by one.

Any info would be nice. Thanks!

Walk around the car and look for ANY scratches or nicks. Make sure dealer will take care of them.

Make sure all doors open and close perfectly, including trunk.

Go over all leather interior surfaces and look for scratches.

I would say just make sure everything is perfect. Ask to check everything before signing anything. Any problems should be addressed in the contract you sign. Possibly ask to test drive 'your car' before it too.

Congrat on your new purchase!

My suggestions:

1. Pick a sunny day, preferablly weekend afternoon and avoid rush hour. Call your dealer, inform them your arrival and make sure they have car washed and detailed. And bring an experienced friend and a CD (to test stereo).

2. First, visual examination of the car. Have your car parked somewhere bright enough to see any possible scratch, ding and whatever imperfection. Park neither under sun (too much reflection) or shade. TAKE YOUR TIME and inspect every panel, corner, under the hood, interior basically the entire car. I took about 20 min nitpicking, running my fingers over the surface of paint andmaking sure all the engine fluids are at proper leve.

3. Second, demonstration of features. You should ask your sales to explain anything you are not familiar with and don't hesitate to ask dumb questions. Play around with the stereo/navi, window, checking lights and so on.

4. Third, test drive time. Take a spin together with your sales. If the car doesn't feel or sound right, let your sales knows immediately while he's on the car with you.

5. Fourth, get whatever you should get. Before signing the check, u should make sure you have everything (keys, owner's manual in a leather bag, first service is also free))

6. Drive home safe

I went to pick up my car with 3 other friends.

Each of us had a zone to check and we made sure there weren't any defects.

As I was fiddling with the car, I found the left mirror didn't work, so I waited 30 minutes to get it fixed.

Having more people there is good simply because sometimes you can't remember everything.
