Defrosting frozen window

Couldnt find this in a search.

What's the best way to defrost ice that has formed near (perhaps between the window and the chrome) the window that prevents the window from going down?

I dont want to damage the chrome or adjacent paint. Any ideas?

Thanks!

over the weekend my windows froze and wouldn't open. i put the front defrost on and let it run for 5-10 minutes then the ice melted and the windows were able to open.

the idea is to let the heat/defrost run long enough so the windows get hot... works for me and i don't have to scrape ice.
