Debadging an 06

I wanna debadge the "Acura" and "TSX" badges on the trunk of my 06 TSX but leave the emblem on it. Does anybody have any easy steps to complete this task? Any pics of this done and how it looks when completed would be greatly appreciated.

Step 1: crack open a beer.
Step 2: gather your tools (fishing line or floss, blow dryer or warm water)
step 3: heat up emblems with either the blow dryer(hairdryer) or boil some water till its warm and pour on trunk over emblems.
step 4: while adhesive under emblems are warm, take fishing line or floss and saw underneath emblems.
step 5: take some sips of beer.
step 6: after all emblems are off use goo gone and your muscles to rub the rest of the adhesive off.
step 7: finish beer.
step 8: grab another beer.
step 9: really make sure all the adhesive is off.
step 10: have you finished that beer yet?
step 11: grab another beer.
step 12: is the adhesive gone?
step 13: moar beer.
step 14: cant tell if the adhesive is gone....keep rubbing.
step 15: chug another beer.
step 16: is there any moar beer left?

Haha, good instructions. The heat to soften adhesive definitely helps. Beer does as well.

I just wanna reassure that these steps and materials used will not do any damage to the trunk or leave any scratches that i will later have to get out. And wat should i use to rub the goo gone stuff with to get that off?

"TSX" and "ACURA"
are held on by 3M double sided automotive tape.

by heating the emblem, the tape will get sticky enough to completely pull off the emblem.
DO NOT USE SCREW DRIVERS OR ANY METAL OBJECT as trying to pry off will damage your trunk.

Now, Goo gone is solvent that will get rid of any sticky residue left behind.
you will have to use your muscles to rub away the sticky residue.

it really isnt that hard. its like when you attach stickers to glass. sometimes a residue will be left behind.

you can take a microfiber rag and wipe away the goo gone.
then you can enjoy more beer and wash your car.

it could be a 5 min job or a 30 min job depending on how stubborn the sticky residue is.

Floss, Goo Gone (any citrus cleaner), and heat (from a hair dryer) won't damage the trunk lid. Using a cotton rag/towel is helpful for scrubbing. The Goo Gone (or citrus cleaner) can be a little oily but some dish soap can help clean that up.

Greetings from a USCG veteran.

Before ...

and after...

I didn't bother with a hair dryer (or yikes heat gun), just waited for a good hot day. Floss, patience, and Goo Gone, clear coat buff and a nice double-waxing with carnauba wax, and I was done. Brilliant.

Why do this? I think that with the two badges off, the car is almost perfectly symmetrical aside from the driver's keyhole. Also, I like it being unrecognizable. Impossible with hundreds of thousands on the road now, but ... whatever. Do it. But do it sober. Drink to celebrate when you're done.

Its like once u buy a car, u start seein more and more of them around then u ever have before lol and thanx for bein a CG Vet

you might have a few micro scratches (very superficial) from when you are rubbing the residue off the trunk using the goo-gone that is on your towel. i wouldnt pour hot water on the emblems to loosen them, just use the blow dryer. but yeah the sratches can easily be buffed out with a good wax afterwards. you might still see the outline of the words "acura" and "tsx" just because theyve been on your car for a looong time. this was all taken care of though b/c i get my car hyperwaxed once a year (i take it to a local detailer and they use a high powered buffing tool to really polish the paint)

what the heck is hyperwaxed??
I detail cars on the side, and "hyperwaxing" seems more like marketing jargon.

warm water will not hurt the car. or the paint. or the emblems.

with your way of thinking, the hair dryer would have as much effect as the warm water would.
"oh noes, dont blowdry your car!!!"

With the warm water method, I have successfully debadged the following:
'11 mustang v6
'06 acura tl
'02 dodge ram
'09 chevy impala
'10 dodge challenger srt8

and the list goes on.

you should probably check the last sentence in parentheses in my first post. someone doesnt read too well

you can wax a car by hand, which does the job to a certain extent. or you can use a fastly rotating pad attached to a power tool to get better results and remove swirl marks from car washes, etc, which is what my detailing place calls hyperwaxing (yeah it is marketing jargon). not that hard of a concept.

Cuz i wanna also remove the grille in front and the emblem and replace with a black meshe grille, but need to find one first to fit my car. If yall know where i could find one thatd be some help too, unless it can only be customly done. And just thought it would look even better if i were to have the front end completely redone, y not debadge the whole back end? idk wat yall think?

the A emblem is held on by two plastic rods(for the lack of a better word)
if you remove it, you will have two holes in your trunk.

Coastie, suggest you exercise the site Advanced Search, some of the questions you're asking have been discussed previously.

As mentioned, the center trunk badge is mounted through holes. I don't mind having the logo, as you can see my plate frame is unmarked, so it's a minimal amount of "branding." I don't worry about the grill much, most people don't see it for very long.

Great write up!
I've been putting this off for far too long.
I'll start with steps 1,5,7,8,10,11,13,15, and 16.
Repeat.
And then I'll get around to the other steps.

Thanks guys, but i dont plan on removin the A emblem on the trunk, thats gonna stay, itll look good still even with that just there by itself, but i wanna remove the grille and get a black meshe one to replace it with no emblem on it. Just dont know if theres a site where one can be bought that already fits the spot or if it has to be customly cut to fit. Even a silver meshe one then ill just have t paint it black. And im gonna do the debadging in like 2 weeks hopefully so ill throw some pics up when its done.

its a simple DIY.

I'm not familiar with the TSX Grill, whether or not this can be done...
