Several of my previous cars had white needles. No contrast to the black background of the white/teal numbers at all. You couldn't see the needle or what it was doing without making a very deliberate effort to look down, find the needle, and refocus on it. The high contrast of the bright red is fantastic. Don't even have to look down at the dash to see where they are or how fast the tach needle is sweeping.

Let me help you!
Years ago when gauge face plates were popular, people with take every effort to avoid touching the needles, otherwise they wouldn't work anymore. People now usually just replace the gauges themselves (ie: reverse indiglo's).
The TSX looks awesome the way it is. It's another reason why I got the TSX (I can't stand all of the orange from bmw/infiniti dashboards). When I used to drive a bmw, I would always lower the light as much as possible. I know it fatigues your eyes less, but it looks fugly to me...the orange needles of the TSX is an exception...it goes well with the dash.
