If you have a good driving record and live in California or Oregon, go for Wawanesa insurance. They insure good drivers at a discounted rate. I have full coverage with them with little over a 1,000 on my premuim for a year. BTW, I have a 07 TSX

Thanks for the insight guys...hoping to land a 06 tsx with about 50,000 miles for about 17,500 out the door...sound like an absurd wish to anyone?

If you're good at bargaining and aren't looking for a CPO car, it's doable. It's less than they're going to want for it though.

I just bought insurance today for my future 2006 TSX.
$109 a month for full coverage. It would have been $94 if it wasn't a speeding ticket that I got last year. I just turned 25.

Your best bet is to call the insurance agency you use and ask what they're charging for that model/year/coverage.

2006 with 50K miles for 17500? Most will be priced a little more than that.

Anyway, 2006 is a good year to get for the tsx.

2006 6MT, 28 years old, fairly clean record, $940 for one year full coverage with $500 deductibles. They gave me a $160 break on the cost because my credit rating is very good though. I'm with the little green lizard.

EDIT - forgot to mention the area is Fairfax county, VA.

I'm probably a bad example. $80/month, full coverage (100/250 deductables) - State Farm, 06 AT TSX. But I'm old and married.

State Farm in NJ (2nd highest cost in nation on avg). 1100 a year. full coverage (500 deductibles). Family has been with them a while. Get a lower rate because no accidents and high grades/credit score since im only 24.

04 tsx at cpo 40k

I checked them out and it looks like I could save a few bucks going through them. My only question is, since they insure only "good" drivers, do the drop you once you make a claim? Do you have any experience on this?

I don't think they'll drop you if you make a claim. They know things happen when we get tickets or accidents. Your premium will definitely go up if it's your fault. Unless it's a traffic ticket, you can take traffic school and not let it hit your insurance.

Keep in mind, all insurance companies want to insure "good" drivers. Good drivers = profit, bad drivers = loss. Any insurance company will drop you eventually if you cost them enough money. I would suppose that some have higher levels of tollerances than others, but most will at least market themselves as insuring only "good" drivers, because it gives you the impression that you'll be with a group that has fewer losses and therefore lower premiums.

I'm 23 & have '05 TSX in Seattle, was insured w/Travelers for the past year $225 a month. Got tired paying high premium so I went w/Geico past 2 months...now $135 full coverage, talk about savings!!! Once I submit my grades this quarter, even more savings Every company differs, just got to look around and tailor to your needs.

Humm ... I think you guys are skipping out on something very important. You may have full coverage but how about the liability part to the other party? Doesn't matter if you have collision and comprehensive and pay $100 a month but if your "BI" coverage is say 25/50 and you are involved in a accident that seriously injured the other party or multi car accident .... you are in deep Sh!T.

Anyway, I pay $1000 a year for the 04 through a major carrier in California, age in profile.
  1. 100k/300k BI
  2. 100k PD
  3. 5k Medical
  4. $500 Collision & Comprehensive
  5. 100k/300k Underinsured/Uninsured (too many UNDERINSURED and UNINUSRED in California)

Here is a very good article by Consumer Report on what auto insurance coverage you all should buy:

I agree. You have to try and get insurance that is well priced but also make sure you have the right amount of coverage. I raised my property damage limit because where I am if you hit a fence in a nice neighborhood you don't want to come out of pocket for that type of stuff. My premium went up a little but it is worth it. Insurance sucks (paying premiums that is)...until you need to use it and I work in the industry.

Depends on where you live and the coverage you have.

I have a 2002 Maxima SE, I drive about 10k/yr. I have 150/300/150 coverage. 100k in uninsured/underinsured coverage, 500 deductible and a few other perks and I pay 84/mo. If I had a TSX it would be 92/mo. I'm 27, clean record and married.

I agree on it depending your area. With a good record and over 25 you should be fine.

I had to get my dad as a co-owner on my car (08 TSX non navi auto) so I could get 100/mo full coverage with 500 deductible in Fairfax county VA too. Without it they wanted me to pay 1300 for 6 months so it was an easy decision for me lol. I am 24 with a few speeding tickets but none in the last 2+ yrs and been driving since I was 16.

The amount I pay will be of no help to you since I'm not located anywhere near you but I pay about $15 less a month than I did for my 2001 Honda Prelude with the same coverage if that helps you any.
