What are people using for rear side markers? I was using SuperBright's 12LED 194/168 bulb in red, but one of them just burnt out on me. I liked how they looked, but I want to try something different.

I temporarily have two 9LED 194/168's (white) in there and now it looks orange and lame. I just ordered two red 5LED wide angle bulbs which I'm hoping should do the trick nicely.

I was using 6LED whites from superbright. Something about the vibration of the trunk lid or that area seems to make them fail often. I would suggest only bulbs or a 1HLED (High Intensity) bulb.

i'm jumpin in

This is one long, monster thread, didn't notice anyone talking about my particular issue.

Just put in complete interior package from tec-toyz.com in my 06 tsx, and noticed that the overhead and backdoor lights stay on just a little bit even when I lock and shut the door.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm wondering if these interior lights are going to drain my battery...

This really is a monster of a thread, as Parker007 says.

Can someone summarize what bulbs are best if I want to do the following?:
- all lights in the taillight housing, including rear sidemarker
- 3rd brake light
- front sidemarker and signal lights

?? What is this going to cost, roughly ??

Thanks!

- all lights in the taillight housing - 7440 get it from autolumination.com 16 Wide Angle Oval LEDS (8 high powered LEDs and 8 LEDs), unlike superbrightleds, this is very bright, almost as bright as stock bulb.
- 3rd brake light - 7440 get it from autolumination.com 16 Wide Angle Oval LEDS

I recently ordered Blue leds for my interior and the license plate bulbs totally slipped my mind. I bought two extra just in case and do not want to spend another $10 on shipping for white leds. So I was thinking using those extra to replace the license plate bulbs. How do blue leds look on the license plate?

The original link/site doesn't work. Does anyone have the guide they could post here? All I need is what size/type of LED fits what bulb inside the car. Thanks.

What would be better for me to get for my map lights?

the 3022x2 x4 x9?

or maybe get the x4 for the map lights and get the x9 for the license plate? The super whites I got from tec toyz are pretty dim for the plate....

What is the difference between polarized and non-polarized LED's? I'm looking at the T13 Wedge Base LED bulb which is cheaper and polarized vs the WLED 6-LED bulb which is more and non polarized on superbrightLEDs.com.

Can anyone confirm that the 3022 x9LED festoon bulbs from superbrightleds.com will fit in our map lights?

I actually placed an order for these before I thought to confirm that these will fit like the x4LED bulbs will fit ...

I too would like to see pictures. Why would you use the 16 wide angle oval led's instead of the 32 Leds?

I tried red 32LED bulbs for the tails and they did nothing for me. Barely any difference to 15LED matrix bulbs. 32's are expensive and not worth it, IMO.

On a related note, I've now had a total of three 5WLED red rear side-marker bulbs burn out on me. I'm putting incandescents back in the side-markets, and may go back to incandescent for tails as well. I'm not feeling how the LEDs look during the daytime - not noticable enough. I am keeping my 32LED white reverse bulbs in though - I adore those things.

Agreed. I gave two different kinds of LEDs a try, and neither were bright enough. Even worse, I didn't feel like the two-stage bulbs were bright enough when I applied the brakes.

But I really loved the dark red color the LEDs gave, rather than the orangish-colored OEM bulbs. So (as cheesy as this sounds), I bought some red-colored incandescent bulbs. They're still bright like the OEM bulbs of course, but they're a deeper red. Plus they're dirt cheap compared to LEDs.

i just bought this one last week. i have installed it but havent got a chance to take a few pics.

you guys might want to read TL guys thread that discuss LEDs too

Today I saw a BMW with the white licence plate lights that looked exactly like the Lexus. I currently have the 1 watt bulb from superbrightleds.com I think they are great and I love them, but I would still want it to look like the Lexus lights.

Anyone know about the type of bulb Lexus use or how this BMW got it?

Thanks!

They do produce a deeper red color when applying the brake. I love the look of it, but the problem I'm having is to get the wires on the LED to fit perfectly with the brake light connector. You would have to adjust these wires (spacing them apart evenly so that when you put the LED into the connector, the wires will contact with the metal pieces inside).
There are two level of intensity to the LED, with the light on it lights up and when you applied the brake, it get brighter. I love the reddish color., but because I couldn't fit them in perfectly, sometimes I get both of them working, sometimes I only get the brake to work. The reason for this is because the regular bulb has double wires on each pin. Here we have only 1 wire per pin, so it's pretty hard to get each pin to straighten up with the metal pieces inside the connector. Maybe someone can have better luck than I do, but after 10 mins of trying, I gave up on them.

I just installed a pair of the Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink': 1 LED,from autolumination for the license plate lights, and they look AWESOME! I would highly recommend them! I also am using these same bulbs for my two door lights, again, awesome light output and fitiment. I beleive this bulb will also fit in the trunk/cargo area, and if it does I will also be using this bulb there, it's really great.

I also installed the Super High Flux 6-LED festoons in white, 10x31mm in the map lights, and they look awsome, great output, tight fit, but they work great.

I ordered these same super high flux 6-led festoons for my dome light, but I'm having some trouble getting it in. Somebody gave me some pointers so I'm going to try tomorrow and squeeze it inl.

So the 32 leds (12 forward facing + 20 side facing leds) WEDGE MATRIX II LED BULB are the ones to get for the Reverse Lights? Is that the consensus?

I've heard these are good to: Raybrig R112 Clear Light Bulb (Bulb Type 7440)

I'm currently running the Wide Angle Superstar w/ Heatsink' in white for the license plate, and love em, just wondering if I should go with the raybrig or the 32 led for the reverse lights???

If you are looking to replace it with an LED, there isn't one small enough. You could buy an LED and solider it in. Only problem is, the LED wouldn't have enough lumens to penetrate the translucent filter well enough.

That sucks. So there is really nothing better to replace it with right?

Unfortunately, I haven't found it. What would be optimal is to find a lense that exact size, but is clear. Then you could solider in an LED to work. Again, I haven't found anything yet and have searched around a little.

It was so insignificant for me, that my Dome's OEM blue LED over-shadowed it. I now have my Sirius unit covering that area, otherwise I would snap a photo.

EDIT: The heat sinks are part of the LED, not independent. They look great. I just used a 7443 (two-stage light) and bent the pins to make it a 7440 (single stage light). It is pretty darn bright.

I did this so long ago, they didn't have a 7440 in white at that time.
