Colored calipers ?

Colored calipers ?
I have seen several pics of some modders TSXs with either blue or red colored calipers. Since I have ABP I was thinking that these blue calipers would look sweet, but what the hell are they, and how much do they cost ?

my understanding is that people started painting their calipers to give the appearance that they have aftermarket calipers, i.e., Brembo calipers, which are colored black and red, or have a racing/high performance brake kit with Brembo calipers (which can be pricey and which you do if you're racing), fwiw.

Painted calipers is okay. They can give a car a sportier appearance, as long as the color is well chosen. However, what I can stand is when some ghetto ricer paints his brake drums. Now that's just stupid.

Like this.... It's high temp caliper paint for $7cdn or $5 USD
I am thinking about changing it to red this summer.

ANy color but red. Red means high performance. Without the brake upgrade, it just looks silly.
For Porsche Red brakes are called "Big Red" and Yellow brakes are ceramic.
Black or silver would be great on stock brakes.

The colored calipers on the high performance cars or brake upgrade kits have a high gloss finish, almost looking like a rubber polymer of some sort (like powdercoating) whereas the hand-painted versions that I've seen have more of a flat look to it. Kinda cheesy looking up close, but from a distance, they look decent. I'm sure you can use a higher gloss paint, but it still lacks the "thick" appearance of powdercoating.

Just find a car accessory shop and they should have it.
Well, I have red caliper on my Mazda6 and it looks nice still. Sure if I can afford another $2k for high performance caliper would be nice, but painted caliper doesn't look bad either for under $10.
I found spray caliper paint very easy to apply. It took me and my friend about 4 hours to do all 4 calipers.

i used 500 deg engine enamel on my calipers. i sprayed it into a plastic container and thern brushed it on to avoid overspray. i managed to find a bottle of high gloss red paint for $4. i put 2 coats on before it got too cold and dark out. looks great. i plan on putting another coat or 2 on later.
