Does graduate school count? If so,
Edit: I guess I should mention that I'm at the University of Wisconsin. Go Badgers!!

I may be fat but I'm slow
I was supposed to be in college when I got my car, but the damn thing is taking so long to get here....ordered it in April, finals were over on Wednesday, graduation is a week from Sunday. Maybe I'll have it by then, maybe not.
But yeah, like Xizor, graduating and getting a real job is why I can have a $30k car.

Good to know most of you school chilluns are about to or have graduated. Congratulations.
Otherwise it seems rather extravagant to have a nice new car while in college. With all the things that happen to student's cars and all (other students, drunkenness, large groups of people, drunkenness, trips to spring break, drunkenness, etc)

How the hell are all of you punks affording a TSX while in college and graduate school.
I'm finally done with graduate school, and there was no way in hell I could have afforded my TSX during those years. I sound a little jaded..can you tell ? I was so poor I couldn't pay attention.
One guy is not even in college yet - must have generous parents I'm guessing.

I have on more semester of college left and planning on getting a TSX here pretty soon. Looked at many different cars but keep coming back to the TSX. It's my favorite!!!

For me, I traded my Jetta and put in $5K I made last summer in a full time job. My parents are covering the rest -- the car is my graduation gift.

I put my Civic down ($4500), and got $1100 off, so I financed $25k at 3.59%, my payments will be $477/60mos.....
BUT
I got a 1 year deferred-payment loan (USAA Military officer career-starter loan), and I will give myself 2 months of no payments, then pay $500/mo for 10 mos, knocking $5k off of the loan, and my payments will be around $370/mo when I start to owe them

I worked in industry for nearly 3 years before going back to graduate school. I live in a half-basement student dorm, without TV, mattress and other "living essentials". I cook all my meals and rarely dinning out. I hand wash my clothes and feel reluctant to pay $2.50 for laundry unless I really have to.
But damn, I drive a TSX

Wow guys, I'm a pretty hard core car guy, but I question the motives of some of you. College is the last time in your life to be pretty much worry-free, why dump the responsibility of having to work to afford a car on yourself? I mean, I love the TSX, but it's not a Ferrari or Porsche....get a crappier car, and go have FUN! You have the rest of your life to work hard and drive a nice car. I spent my four years in a 98 Civic, and I had enough dough to go out and have some fun, and not work every night and weekend. For you guys who already did it, good for you, but for anyone considering the lifestyle of bustin' your ass just to make a TSX payment, I strongly recommend you reconsider. Take $5k and buy a beater that will get dinged, scratched, puked in, etc., go out and spend some money on having fun, and put whatever is left over in a savings account for a sweet car when you've graduated. As my boy Stifler said (as E.L.) "The window of opportunity to drink, do drugs, and take advantage of young girls is growing smaller by the day." You'll never get this time back.

Just graduated from NCSU in December. I bought my car November 1st last year as a graduation present to myself. Parents put down 3K for me and I leased the rest. No car to trade in though as my 96 accord got totaled on Halloween due to girlfriend falling asleep at the wheel But I guessed it worked out in my favor since I got my new baby. But making payments sucks since I had a car that was payed for and cheap on insurance.

Dang people...lots of lucky bastards out there!
I'm in college and I drive a 1988 Honda Accord that I picked up for $1800. But I'm not complaining since it is a Honda and a 5-spd. I could buy a newer car since I work while in school, maybe even put a nice down payment on a TSX, but I'd rather save up and get something nice when I graduate. My car keeps getting dings and scratches from parking on campus, and it ticks me off, but every time I remind myself that I'm glad its no new car!

Look under his name.
On an un-interesting name, I had a dream about my TSX in a college campus. I parked it then thought I lost it when I saw an SC430 (that Lexus convertible) in it's place. Turns out I parked it on the other end of the building.
