College graduate discount?

Anyone know if Acura has any discount for recent college graduates? I know many brands do and usually you have to be purchasing within 2 years after your graduation or 6 months before your graduation. I know its not much, but another $400 off or so would help.

i inquired at my local dealers, i think the general response is that they dont really need to offer any discounts to sell acuras, whereas some companies such as ford and gm need to periodically have these promotions to keep from going under

According to Edmunds.com the only incentive currently offered is called "Dealer Marketing Support" which is a $1000 payment from Acura to the Dealer, from 11/22/06 to 1/10/07. This may explain why we've seen some really good deals recently. Here is the link to Edmunds.com. If the dealer gets a $1K payment from the manufacturer then they might pass on all or some of it to you to get the sale done.

If you are Canadian, I do believe there is a $500 Graduate discount reimbursed to the dealer from Honda. It existed when I bought mine in Sept.2005

Hey there,
Congrats on your graduation! Just a word of advice though. When you say that $400 or so off would help, it sounds like you NEED that $400 off to be able to afford this car. I think you might be pusing it a little bit when it comes to affording a tsx.

Not trying to crush your dreams or anything. Just trying to help you out and keep you from stretching yourself out too much.

Acura Canada offers ongoing grad promotions. The promotion changes slightly each year, but from what I've seen over the years, it's always extended and similar. Last year, it was up to $800 towards financing (through Honda) on qualified vehicles. I think the only exception was the NSX. You had to have graduated from a certified institution (universities, colleges, etc) within the last 4 years.

I asked about that as well when I was shopping, and I don't remember hearing anything about something for college grads. I ended up getting it before I graduated so it wouldn't have helped me anyways in the end.

And $400 is $400, who wouldn't want to save that if it was as simple as checking a "I am a recent college grad" box?

I appreciate your concern, and working in the financial industry I can certainly understand the importance of not overextending yourself. Thankfully, that's not the case at all in my situation. I was simply asking because, to me, I view it as a "free" $400 to keep in my pocket or tint the car with, etc. I landed an excellent job out of college, recently bought my own house at age 24, and am confident I can afford the car. I ended up finding something on Honda's website about a recent graduate program but all it talks about is having flexible financing. I guess I'll have to ask the dealer...

When I graduated, AHFC offered special rates for recent grads. They also were more inclined to extend financing / lease to recent grads you would not otherwise qualify.

Maybe you're thinking of this?

I don't know anything about it, but it might be what you're thinking of.
