Coin tray lifting up with center console lid.

I just got an 05 TSX MT and like it a lot. Much sportier than my retired 95 accord.

This may have been covered before. I tried searching and couldn't find any threads specific to this problem.

I noticed that the coin tray in the center console lifts up with the lid even though I push in the tab to only open the lid.

Is the fix just lubricating the hinge, or is there something else that I would need to repair it like a plastic bushing, etc so it opens properly?

Thanks

This is how it's been since I've taken delivery in 2003. Can't recall if anyone on here did anything about it. You could try lubricating the hinge, but that may also effect the cover not being able to remain up when you want it to.

Thanks for the tips.

I tried white lithium grease in the center of the hinge where the coin tray pivots.

It is working now. Will have to see how long that fixes it. Thought the lithium grease may last longer and smell better than WD40.

put some coins in the tray, the weight might have gravity help you there.

The white lithium grease has worked ever since I posted that reply.
