I was really looking forward to having Climate Control. This is my first car that has it. I expected to just set the thing to 70 degrees Fahrenheit or so, and just leave it. However, it seems like depending on the outside temperature, I have to adjust the climate control often for me to stay comfortable. I assumed this must be normal until a coworker of mine (who has a different make car) told me she leaves her Climate Control on 74 degrees Fahrenheit all the time.
I then searched the forum, and found this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19890 (in which most people seem to leave theirs at one temp also) which makes me suspicious that there is either something slightly wrong with my Climate Control, or I'm just weird.
I live in south Texas, and especially this time of year the temperature varies a lot. In any given day it will range between 40 degrees and 80 degrees. If it's 40 outside, setting to 70 makes me feel hot. I have to go between 64 and 68 to be comfortable. But then when it's 80 outside, if I go much lower than 74, I start feeling chilly.
So my question is: Does anybody else change it a lot like me? Is that normal for the climate I live in? Or should I have the dealership see if it's calibrated correctly?

Are you wearing a jacket when it's 40 and a short sleeve shirt later that day when it's warmer? You get my point -- it can't compensate for clothing you are wearing. Just a thought.

I live 70 miles north of you in Austin, and I haven't had any problems. I set mine to 72 and leave it on. On some of the recent nice weather days, I've just turned mine off completely, though.
Maybe you can try adjusting the positioning of your vents.

I change it often, generally within a range of 68 to 78; depending upon the ambient environment, the mood I am in, the clothing I am wearing, and the type of driving I am doing. For example, diving in a crowded city or in the mountains causes constant body movement that produces more body heat than a boring, flat, interstate highway. If I am driving late at night, I will usually have it cooler than during the day so that I stay more alert and have less tendency to get drowsy. Before we had dual climate control, it was not uncommon for me to be in a short sleeve short and my wife in a sweater at night.

Adjusting the vents might be a solution. I like air blowing in my face, so I’m thinking that hot air makes me hot, and cold air makes me cold (duuh) but the ambient temp is probably correct, but my comfort is more based on the temp of the air moving.
I’ll try pointing the vents away and report back.

I usually keep mine at 69 degrees. BUT, my wife loves her side to be about 73 and she hasn't gotten to trust the dual-zone, so I end up having to adjust after she's been in the car ;-).
I have driven other cars with auto climate and Acura's is the best I've experienced. Many don't have the sun sensors like the Acura and you get too hot in the summer. I drove a Nissan Maxima last week and I felt I had to adjust the temperature more than I would if it would have been manual.
Also, a friend has an '02 Tahoe and he never uses the auto climate because it doesn't wait for the engine temperature to rise like the Acura does, so when it's 10 degrees out, it immediately starts blowing cold air in his face.
Probably just a matter of preference though...

I've had auto climate control in my last 3 cars and always move between 66ish to 74. I live in Colorado where the outdoor temp can vary 10 degrees in a single commute. Another huge factor is morning sun. The Sun (and my morning java) can heat up the driver side of the car while the outside temp in in the 20 causing the system to think its colder than it is (therefore heating it up to much for my taste). The huge advatage of auto climate I think is not to "set it and forget it" but that I only use one button to control the thing vs. 2 knobs and host of buttons.

Set it at 70 degrees (or your favorite temp) and leave it alone... Let the system do what it was designed for..keeping the internal temp of your vehicle at the set temp.
Here in new England (with a bitter cold winter) I never had to adjust it.. of course I did turn on the ashwarmers every morning.....
On nice sunny days in January & February, I thought it odd to have the system turn on the AC after I started the car.. but then again, the car interior had warmed up above 70 degrees with all the glass and black interior (need tint soon!)

I likes it nice and warm so it's always 72 and 74 in mine. Am I the only one who feels it doesn't produce that much heat at the bottom around the feet? And that's where I like it all. Just set the mode at feet only, but it's still nothing like the warmth coming from two older cars I drive--10 and 18 years old. Think my fav position though as we come into spring and most of the summer will be OFF. Though the manual goes out of its way to tell you not to leave it off for an extended time.

In the winter, I set it to 67 or so, and now that spring is coming, I find that the solar sensor is turning the A/C on too early. So, I jack up the temp to 70 or 71.

I leave mine at 68-69 when it's warm and sunny out and higher 70-71 when it's cold or driving at night. The reason is because (in my opinion) the system turns the A/C on too much when it is cold out. Often I'm surprised it comes on at all when it is cold. Seems like a waste of fuel and power to the engine to me.
I wish the system had a "Economy" setting like American car auto temp controls (which simply doesn't allow the A/C to come on, but still retains all the functions of the auto temp control). Unless I'm missing something, the only way I can make this happen on the TSX is to put it into manual mode by forcing the A/C off and choose the airflow source and fan speed manually. The temperature can still be set, but all of the automatic fan and airflow source wizardry does not happen.

When its cold out I usually leave the A/C off and set both sides at 70. Then my wife gets in and immediately sets her side to 75 and then lowers it to 70 when she gets too hot. In the summer the A/C stays on and the temp setting is anywhere between 68 and 72 depending on how we feel at the time.

I did try pointing the vents away, and it did work to some extent. However, my desire to have cool air blowing on me caused me to go back to my original ways of adjusting the temp more often. I've noticed when the outside and inside temps are almost exact, I inevitably feel stuffy and have to set the inside temp to lower to get some air moving.
Another question...

Personally, until I heard that, I always kept the recycle air button pressed because it keeps me from smelling the outside world, and in general I like the "conditioned" air better.

When I first get in the car I crank it down to get cooled off faster.
Then I reset it back to around 70. I really just use it to control the fan speed since I have the vents right on me.

I usually keep mine at 69 in the morning and at night. During the middle of the day when it is really hot outside, I find that I need to crank it up to 71 in order to be in the same comfort level. If I do not change it, the car will cranck up the fan quite a bit, and since I always point the air to my face it starts bothering me.
