Cleaning the chrome exhaust
Ok so I did a search, tried the WD40, but I still have some of these "dots", spots or whatever the hell they are and it looks like it's going to take a hell of an effort to get it off. What do you do when rubbing in WD40 just won't quite do?

The avatar actually comes from a Peugeot advertisement.
Back to thread, I've had issues trying to clean my exhaust as well. I've got dots of rust and black spots where I can't seem to get off. I used CLR to remove the rust (not sure if that's good for the finish) and tried using a dish sponge with dish detergent to remove some of the spots.

Ive used tar remover (used to detail cars, tar sticks on side panels). I soaked my mufflers in that stuff, and the lil dots came off. Not all of them, but i also didnt scrub that long... I thought it worked good...

hmm, i used a silver polish. found it under the sink becuase our appliances have that stainless steel thing on them. but we had some stronger stuff i used. gave me a head ache but once i finished they looked brand new and i had a black rag. so
give it a try but dont keep it on there too long or ull ruin the finish

Go get yourself a small jar of Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish. It will clean your exhaust tips like the day they were new with very little effort. Rust, tar, exhaust soot, dead animals, dots, spots or whatever--it will all come off. Trust me, go get some now. It's also great for taking stubborn stains or spots off of your wheels and other chrome bits. You can thank me later.

An AT with clean exhaust pipes would probably have the same dyno results as an MT with dirty exhaust pipes.

I should mention that the above results were obtained after about 4 minutes of work on each exhaust tip. Whatever was on there came off immediately, and the rest of the time was spent buffing them to a nice shine.
