Chrome grill kit

I have completed a search and not found anything about this topic so far- if I have missed a prior related thread, please forgive me. I found this "chrome" grill kit listed on ebay and am curious if any TSX'ers have tried it yet? If so, I would love to see a pic. It looks like the kit is basically a few chrome-colored plastic strips that you stick on the grill to accentuate the existing dark plastic lines. On some of the models, the trim looks pretty hot IMO- but only if there aren't too many lines going on. What do you all think?

Here is the link to the auction listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2467667975

Sorry if this post should be listed in the "performance" forum.

I think some of the chrome grilles look nice in the pictures but for some reason when you go to there site the Acura is a non-clickable link and in the ad I didn't see an pictures of the TSX grille. Its definately cheap enough to take a risk, but if it looks like the verticle stripped Acura CL grille it would look- IMO- hidious on the TSX.

I think it would be nice to see a TSX with some 17 or 18 high quality chrome wheels and a chrome grille, do it up the rap star style. Everyone else seems so geared towards performance, I am curious if the car could pull off that kind of look- don't get me wrong I am not saying I am going to do it, just curious.

You are forgetting the additional weight of the chrome. More chrome = less acceleration. Hmmm, chrome probably has a lower coefficient of drag than plastic when it comes to wind resistance.

This is the best looking, Acura should start using this much chrome on their grilles.

But on the TSX, there are only 2 additional strips to chrome up. I don't think the result would look as elegant.

OK, I have decided to bite the bullet, so I went ahead and won the auction for the grill kit. If it looks ok, I will plan to post a few pics on here of the finished project (if I can figure out how).

waiting

I just received an email from the ebay seller yesterday stating that the grill kit will be shipped in 2-3 days. Hopefully it will be on my doorstep within a week or so- I need a mod!

Well, the chrome grill insert kit finally arrived in the mail and I installed it today pretty simply with nothing more than a sharp pair of utility scissors. I will have to drive it around a little before I decide if I want to remove them or not. Here is a link to my photo album- what do you guys think?

PS I know the car is a little dusty but I wanted to go ahead and take the pics anyway.

I dont know about that. Its subtle, but I think it takes away from the flowing middle chrome piece.

Sorry! Ithink I have fixed the problem- let me know if not
I cant decide if it is the look of subtle elegance or the new kid with braces...

Looks pretty good to me. It's subtle enough that it doesn't really detract from the car.

i actually wish they didn't put a lot of chrome on the front hood part of the TSX, because once you get a rock chip on there, it's hard to remove.

If opinions is what you want, then here's mine:

I don't like it. It looks like the chrome does not extend all the way to the edges on the lower fins.

I've always felt that cars like the TSX should not be messed around with. Kinda like BMWs and Mercedes.

You start adding aftermarket junk to BMWs, Mercs, TSX and the car starts losing its "prestige" feeling.

OK, after thinking about it for a while, the grill started reminding me of a Mazda or something so I removed the chrome strips- they were just "clip on" and simple to remove. NOw my beautiful TSX has been restored!
