Released by Sony in Japan. Those 3D graphics look awesome IMO. I just wonder how feasible it would be to map all of the US in 3D, buildings and all. Would also be nice to have linux-based system in my car instead of Microsoft-based model we currently get.

What I mean is that can easily be done on a Microsoft based OS. The fact that linux is running it means nothing, except to those ultranerds who think microsoft is the devil.

And, I imagine that the linux (and other x'y) OS' low overhead make it significantly easier to do such an app than any M$ product.

Can you imagine for a minute a world in which there is one single car maker - 3 models - ALL v4 - AT - green paint, cloth seats - overheats/breaks down all the time ?

Benefit of having Linux in the car nav is that there'll potentially be TONS of FREE software & a community that share and provide support...man that'll be a sweet day.

As well, they'd probably start charging rights to put the building logos on the map since that's like advertising.
In the end, it'll all be about money.
Umm...not seeing it...
Am I the only one who actually doesn't like this setup? I personally think it looks really gimmicky--the 3D buildings look horrible, and I personally would much rather just use the conventional Nav system. The current generation nav system has been working just fine for me...don't see the need for the mickey-mouse 3D graphics.
Sorry to be so blunt... :o

Food for thought....
All the more reason why I didn't get the navi. I don't like having a computer tell me how to get from place to place. I like to figure it out for myself. As for the screen, though. I would love to still have that. Might be nice to be able to have a carputer without installing another monitor of some sort.
