Cargo net?

I'll be picking up my new TSX this weekend! I signed the deal and had forgotten a small thing: the cargo net. I like having it so things aren't clunking around the trunk when I make turns. So I called the salesperson to see if I could arrange to have a cargo net installed (I think the hooks have to be installed). He seemed strangely opinionated about it. Saying stuff like "No no, we gave you a trunk tray so you won't need the cargo net." I figured it wasn't a big deal but I said I'd like to get it if it could be arranged. Does this seem odd to anyone?

Yes, it does seem odd. The trunk tray and cargo net are two completely different things. Maybe your salesperson doesn't know the difference between the two? Its more curious that your salesperson is not jumping at the opportunity to overcharge you for the net and its installation. The TSX cargo net requires the installation of additional hooks. A number of members have gone with the cargo net for the 350Z which is slightly different but fits perfectly to the existing hooks already in the TSX's trunk.

If you search on "Cargo net" you'll find these three threads, among others:

Acura Cargo net

The Acura labor cost/time for installing the cargo net is almost the cost for the net. I had the cargo net and installation included in the purchase price. After living with the cargo net for 3 months, I find it almost (but not quite) useless.

I purchased a 350Z coupe cargo net online for $30+shipping and this is what you need instead of the Acura cargo net. It is a clam shell design (top/bottom net), lays flat on the floor when not in use, and it hooks up perfectly to the four existing hooks in the trunk.

Sell the Acura net and use the money to get a 350Z cargo net.

Thanks a lot everyone! I'll surf the net and ebay for the 350z cargo net!
And yes jlukja, it really did seem strange that he didn't say "yes yes, we can put that in for $$$$$!" It seemed....not very professional to me? But at least it was just a minor detail that turns out has a simple alternate solution! Thanks mrgold35 for the pic!!

he's probably like most people here who think that the 350z cargo net is better than the acura one.

I have the 350z cargo net too. It keeps things nice and tidy, and i can pile stuff onto it when necessary. I wasn't too keen on acura's cargo net when I read the installation instruction.

Instead of EBay, try your local Nissan dealer - they might be very close to the same price, but instant satisfaction. Most 350Z nets are actually fairly pricey on EBay... almost the same as locally so I'd do local.

Remember, COUPE net, not sedan! My local Nissan dealer said "350Z coupe or G35 Sedan?". They're different, so make sure to specify. No idea why they think the 350Z coupe and the G35 sedan customers wouldn't know the model of their own cars though, LOL.

That's funny. The Nissan dealership I ordered mine from first didn't know that one existed, and then when they did find it, he asked me if it was the 350Z coupe or convertible!

When I looked for it on websites, it seems that the net is different between the coupe and convertable. I believe we need "coupe" not "convertable". I think it's cheaper too. I still haven't gotten one though. I'm still trying to decide if I need it.

My cargo solution have been a couple of low-budget containers. One of them is a "crate" that you can get at a typical W*M or office supply store for holding file folders. That doesn't seem to slide around. I also got a cheap fold-out (nylon & wire?) cargo carrier from W*M that is too flimsy to work well, but maybe it's better than nothing. Sometimes I need containers to pile stuff in, moreso to hold it from sliding. Put enough crap in the trunk, and nothing will slide.

I know this is an old thread, but I just received and clipped in one of the 350Z coupe nets in my 2013 TSX. It is definitely the clamshell part like I see on the bottom net -- What I am wondering is the picture seems to show not just a bottom net but a net 'vertically' if you will from left to right. Do you have a second net of some sort added and if so what do you have?

I think it might be safe to assume that the cargo net Nissan sells now is not the same as the one they sold 7-8 years ago (which is the age of the pictures).

I originally had the Acura OEM cargo net that sits vertical across the trunk. I found the Acura net to be almost worthless holding anything larger or heavier than a loaf of bread. Thanks to this forum, I purchased the 350Z cargo net and it fit perfectly in my 06 TSX (not sure of the same fitment in +09 TSX). I just left the Acura cargo net in place because it is not 100% worthless. I usually keep a jacket for my wife in the Acura net because she is always freezing when we go out to eat (only thing the net can hold without tipping over or spilling).
