Carbon Fiber Interior Trim

Does anyone here have carbon fiber tirm in their interior? Specifically the horizontal trim that goes across the dash and the driver and passenger side doors?

my coworker just got the kit for his M3 and it is VERY nice. I would only want the horizontal piece and maybe the driver side and passenger side arm rests/door handles.

sounds like it would look stupid to me.
the silver part?

or the wood part rather?

you know the stereo is colored like that, and it's not a trim piece.

otherwise you're going to need to get it custom.
all they have is stick on options, which are rice.

oh..

by the way.

I want to have my door pieces and such done in something too.
but it would have to be professional, not stick on.

so who does custom kits?
only one place I've ever heard of.

Forest Automotive.

where?
not sure.
still open?
not sure.

Unique Autosports used to send all their dash kits out to Forest Automotive to
have them custom painted or finished or whatever.
not stick ons, factory pieces finished and re-installed.

so where is the Forest Automotive place that did all the work for Unique?

we wouldn't buy the rice stuff Unique does, but the technique is the same I imagine.

anyone care to help me track these guys down?

yes I am talking about the silver part that runs horizontally across the dash. this would obviously not match the wood trim. i personally think it would look great. thanks for your opinion though.

and yes, I do not want the stuff that sticks onto the existing trim. I would want the parts that actually replace the current trim pieces.

Does this exist for our car? If it does, what do they do about the part in the middle under the radio, with all the markings on it?

I saw your avatar Tommy, and it was on Whiskers.

I thought "What the heck is Whiskers doing in here"

It would look good because carbon fiber would match the tone of the ebony interior. I'm pretty sure the console plastic is meant to give the impression of carbon fiber.

so you want a silver radio and carbon fiber look for the rest of the trim?
or a wood radio and carbon fiber for the rest?

and you say it would obviously not match, but it would look great.
do you even know what you're talking about?

did you even read what I wrote? I said it would not look good with the WOOD trim around the radio. I have the SILVER trim. I think it would look fine with the SILVER trim around the radio. make more sense?

okay.

I see.

but if it were me, I'd want the stereo to match.

this can be done.

there's places that do this sort of coating, it's like a liquid
vinyl application.
I saw it on American Chopper where they did some camo tins
with this method.

they can print about whatever they want on the film they use,
and I'm sure carbon fiber is not out of the question.

I too think our trim (both the silver, the fake carbon fiber and the black)
is a bit lame and I'd replace it with a carbon fiber look probably too.

I'm going to spend some more time researching this.
It'll be a non-conventional method with a specialist company, but I'm
sure one of us can pull it off.

I saw a set of the metal like trim pieces on ebay a bit ago for $100, I should
have picked them up to experiment with. The OEM ones are way pricey.

I'm googling stuff now.. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Doesn't a guy on the TL forums have that on his car? I think I saw him selling it in the sales section.

No way I would put a fake CF sticker over anything on my car. It's gotta be real or it won't go on there, and I'm sure that's the case with a lot of others on these boards

I totally agree.
But until I saw the above post link, I never thought it would happen.

that TL had soooo much custom carbon fiber on it...
if we hook up with the guy that did all the work for him, we could be on to
something.

I like the engine cover, radiator cover, etc. came out nice.

I think he went a bit wild with the cf though.

An intake manifold cover would be nice. I can't afford the supercharger (not like I could get it on an 07 anyways) but love that carbon fiber IM cover

yeah, not one single company makes one for our car either.
Password JDM said they were going to, but never did.

yea but seriously, TSX-S? How does IS-F 250 sound?

Any ways, the carbon-fibered-out TL would look better if the interior was ebony. The CF seems out of place with either parchment or taupe leather.

a very good friend of mine does carbon fiber work. he can wrap just about anything you can imagine. i talked to him about doing the trim pieces when i first got my car. he seems to think it would be no problem at all. i'd want to get some done as a test first before i offered to have it done for people on here. i wouldnt feel right asking people for money unless i knew it was going to come out perfect.

so... if anyone has an extra set of the trim pieces laying around they want to donate, or even sell for a good price, maybe we can get this taken care of. the piece over the radio would still be an issue but maybe we can figure something out. (i'll put my engineering degree to work!!) in the meantime i'll look for some pics of other work he has done. he used to have a turbo prelude and there wasnt a single thing inside the car that wasnt wrapped.

And what does rice mean anyways?? I mean.. where did that term come from? Everytime you guys say that I think.. what does that have to do with a TSX??

the mods are really subtle hardly rice. bmws have clear sidemarkers, and the type-s badge while there are no type-s tsx's, does not look out of place. as it looks oem and i think MM's car will be worthy of it in the future. you cant tell me you honestly think his car looks rice.

the OP has the same headlights aswell...

So putting an oem type R badge on my non R integra would be ok right?

I think it's ok only because the TSX type S doesn't exist. If one did, then it would be lame to put the badge on there because you're pretending to be something you're not.
