I would think it should be OK if you trust the body shop you are going to do it with. This could be real expensive though so I wouldn't paint it unless you have a very compelling reason (other than wanting a black car).

I had my entire Milano Red TSX repainted under warranty from Acura (due to excessive chipping) and the total bill for the job was just under $4,500 - and the paint was done at a reputable body shop that Acura deals directly with. I'm sure it could be a little more if you use a true "custom" car shop.

Another thing to keep in mind if you're planning to go from white to black, unless you plan to completely gut the car down to the sheet metal (or do EXTENSIVE masking), you're going to get a lot of areas that show overspray (i.e. inside door jambs, interior engine bay, etc. Even though my car was sprayed the same color, I can see some areas where the body shop just couldn't spray evenly.

paintjobs are fine... as long as you get it done RIGHT. i cannot stress this enough to car enthusiasts who are interested in getting their cars painted. get it right the first time and dont cheap out on the price. the paint and coating is the only thing between nature and bare metals/body panels. the last thing you want is bubbles or possible rust spots.

A full color change will cost you at least $5,000. If you pay less than that, you run a high risk of getting uneven paint, or missed areas, or any of many other problems. The only way to do it is to take the whole car apart so you're looking at a full day of prep work before the painting ever starts, then another full day of putting it back together.
If you want cheap, go to Maaco, but you'll have to do it every year to keep it half decent.

Your looking about that price range. I talked to shadowlegs at hot import nights in 06 at shea stadium. He had a black tsx, then painted type r champion white. came out good, he said they need the car at least 1 full week.

I would suggest to sell the white car and buy a black one. Would be cheaper and also better paint quality

I don't understand why you would spend so much money on a paint job, when you could trade for a black tsx.. or sell yours and buy black? If I had $5k burning a hole in my pocket, it would not go toward a color change.

I agree with most others too. It really isn't worth redoing. But if you are, expect to get it done right with a reputable shop and expect to pay a lot.

+1 on trading it in if you really want black that much..but then you're going to lose with the trade in value, unless u can do a cashless trade with someone who wants a white one.

Why would you trade it in?.. Thats putting you into another payment that may come out to be more anyway. Its basically the same as paying 5k to paint it. If it helps make your car look new again.. just do it!
