Car Key?

Hello,

I just picked up my TSx on 05/01/04. Just wondering if anyone could help me. The dealer only gave me two keys with two remotes and one valet parking key. I thought i should get the number key pad (Just in case you lost the key, the key number pad will be needed to generate new key)

The dealer told me they only need my Vin # to get key replacement. Is that true? Thanks in advance.

I got the same with an additional small card that has barcode and #'s and was told this is used for a key replacement.

Hmm, wonder what happens when cars go keyless? It's nice to just get in the car and push the start button but boy be ready for some real headaches if you lose you fob.

Jkochis,

Is that additional card with bar code and #'s came from Acura or the dealer itself? Thanks.

Acura dealer gave me and told me not to lose since it can be used to make more keys. I am sure they can reproduce from acura records, but they may charge for that service if needed.

The cost to replace a key is very expensive. Just the key itself is about 60-75 bucks and then the oem remote is another $100. My mom lost a set of the orignal key and remote and went to the dealer for a price and this is what they told me. I guess the key is so expensive cause they need to charge you for labor to recode a new key with a special machine but I still think thats a huge rip off.
