Car and Driver Test
I am finally in the market for my first new car. I have had sporty cars since I could drive, but they where all used (89 Mustang GT, 92 SE-R, and 00 Contour SVT). My wife and I have tested lots of new cars in the sub $30,000, including a TSX (but didn't drive one due to no 6 spd on the lot, a stick is a must have for me). I had my heart set on a new 2005 Subaru Legacy 2005 GT Limited. When my bible arrived at my door, I saw the comparision test with the Subaru. I quickly turned to the test with the A4, TSX, S40, and the 2.5 GT. What? The Subaru in 3rd place?? It seems that the TSX cleaned up, top both the fun to drive and the got to have contests. I got to drive a 6 spd the other day and I was sold. It is a lot nicer car then the 2.5 GT. It reminded me a lot of my old SE-R, with the quick reving engine that is very rewarding. I have decided to wait for a 05 for the XM (I was going to retro fit it anyway like I did in my current Jeep) and the power passenger seat that my wife loves. I have enjoyed reading your site, and will be back often.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sorry to repost the same descusion. I think that I will go with the dark gray. Color I haven't nailed down yet thinking they may come out with a new color or two. It will for sure be 6MT with navigation. I have enjoyed reading the pros and cons to the navigation on the site.
Do you already have a descusion going about the Road & Track artical on the 2.5 GT VS. TSX?

We had a discussion on the R&T article but we had to close it because there were to many subaru fanboys from a LGT forum that came here to stir the pot. The discussion was going in circles so it was closed. There's still some good reading in there if you want to check it out: http://www.acura-tsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14507

I came to the TSX from an SVT Contour, also.
The SVT seemed to handle a bit better, however, it rode like an ox cart with wood wheels (and the tire noise to match).
Power actually seemed very similar. Both rated at 200HP, one 2.4L and the other 2.5L. The 6 speed is a nice addition to the TSX.
The SVT also had the worst "premium" sound system I ever heard. Not even close to TSX.
Looking back at the SVT (which I had for about 4 years and 90K miles), that car was pretty sweet. It really was a fun car. To bad Ford doesn't build anything with 4 doors worth owning anymore. Quality and durability were pretty bad, but it was fun.
Bottom line is if you liked the SVT, you will LOVE the TSX. (may need some summer perf. tires to rip thru the corners as well, however).
