Canadian TSX in the US

Ok, I tried to hijak another thread and it didn't work

But... here's my question. Only other color I would have picked over the CG is the PWP if I could have gotten the Ebony Int. Would it be possible to get a Canadian PWP/Ebony and bring it to the States? If so, what type of import taxes, emissions regs, etc would I be facing. Just wondering because if there were big enough changes to the 06 and I could do it I would think about it...

Sorry for but your question brings up something I've wondered for a while... what would it cost to import from the US to Canada? The car in mind would be the Toyota MR-S (MR-2 replacement)... I was told that it fails some safety requirement by the government thus Toyota not able to sell it here

That is exactly the way I feel. My NHB/ebony is really cool, but I probably would have picked PWP/ebony if it was an option.

you guys like my color, just not the interior

Its always possible that in 2006 they offer PWP w/ Ebony in the US. They only had MR w/ Parch, and in 2005 they added one of the dark ones to it (is that right )

TSX.Fury,

I think you can begin to answer this question by starting here:

lol yep... its a nice color, but its really just the fake wood that kills me about the parch int.

I hope you are wrong about the PWP/ebony in the US for 06... lol cause then its gonna be REALLY hard to resist trading this in, especially if it gets a power bump.

and yeah, they added the ebony to the MR and I was soooooo close to getting it but I know the stats on speeding tickets for red cars and I drive fast enough as it is. I didn't need something else going against me.

I don't see how red cars can get more tickets. If a cop has a radar gun and he's out to get speeders, he's going to get the first person that speeds past him no matter what color it is.

I think it's the attitude of the driver, in that a red car is probably more likely to invoke the speed demon in you. People associate a red car with sporty. Those that believe that will buy a red car and speed. PLUS I think more sports cars are sold in red because it's "shportay."

I didn't say that. There will probably be an import duty of one kind or another, but I really don't know enough about it. I was just trying to get you started. But my limited understanding from certain things I've read is that the regulatory requirements (safety/EPA) are generally the hardest part.

In the thread it was reported that the 2006 models will see PWP with Ebony or Quartz interiors.

If it's true that some Transport Canada safety regulation was not met, then I would doubt that it would be on the list (there is a list) of cars that are eligible for importation. Or if it is, you'd have to have the deficiency remedied somehow.

Nav is available in Canada. It's XM radio that is not (yet) available.

If someone wants a black interior for their PWP car, I would quite happily swap. I would rather have the parchment in my car...

Dunno if you caught the first paragraph, but the 2000-2005 MR2 is on the Inadmissable list.

Yea, the outside is great. Although i dont dislike the tan interior, i just prefer the dark colored interior.

It would be pretty cool if they offered that color combo, although i already have the car so i guess its a little late at this point
