Something is seriously wrong with Canadians when the Pontiac Grand Am is #7 on the list.
Looks like the Civic has overtaken the hard charging M3 and regained the Best selling car in Canada label.
Funny how the Altima is outselling the Camry. Always thought Camry's were way overpriced anyway.
Those Corlla numbers are slightly padded IMO considering they include Matrix sales. I'd take a Corolla over a Civic though.

I'd venture to guess that the US list is not that different - mostly the same cars but probably in a bit different order.

% of Americans overweight or obese = 61% (1999, US Surgeon General)
No surprise that Americans buy more large cars than Canadians.

Well, this might also come from the fact that Canadians are poorer too.

On the Grand Am numbers yes. I've yet to see a Civic. M3 or Corolla as a rental.

I have a rental Mazda3 now. I was surprised it was available, but a friend of mine rented a Protege once, so I guess it's nothing too new.

Civic Si & coupe may not selling that well but sedan still very good because they are cheap hard to complete! Both Corolla & Civic is $188/mth! who can beat that!

I guess the mazda's are getting in there because of the ford connection, and their relationship with rental companies.

You rented a Honda Civic? As in from Hertz, Enterprise, Avis, Thrifty, etc? It's not that I doubt you, it's just that I have never personally seen a rental Civic or any Honda for that matter. I have seen Camry, Taurus, Galant, Lancer, Cavalier, Ranger, Mustang, Impala, Expedition, Explorer, and on and on, even G35s. The only Honda fleet cars I've seen have been a few corporate cars or those rent-by-the-hour cars (they rent Civic Hybrids primarily, and are basically a car time-sharing service for large-city residents who other than occasionally don't need personal transport).
So, out of my curiousity, where have your friends and you rented Hondas, so that next time I'm on business maybe I can book a decent car instead of the sad Gallant I had last time?
Honda rents around 1% of Accords to fleet markets/rentals, so it's possible to see some Hondas. I'm just not sure about the "a lot" part that gilbo is talking about. Honda typically avoids the fleet market because it wants to retain the value of its used cars - and personally, I've never seen a Honda at any rental lot.
