can pads be resurfaced?

I am asking because i bought new rotors (centric regular blank), and the pads (hawk hps) still have over 60% left (but with some pattern over the surface).

I'm curious about this too. I had the brakes done already, and of course they just turned the rotors, and they're starting to warp again. The pads probably have a ton of life on them.

(I need to re-read old threads to see what rotors are recommended.....)

Good question. I'm wondering the same thing too. I'm on my second set of pads for my non-stock rotors, and I'm thinking about swapping out my fronts, and keeping my barely used pads.

Seems it is popular question.
I just smooth the pad surface by using file (for my snowboard sharping), it turns out to be almost perfect, i mean 95% smooth, all patterns are gone. if drip some water between two pad surfaces, they can suck together.

lol you sharpen your own board? i usually just have it done at the mountain. Don't trust myself shaving stuff off my board haha.

I'm planning on getting new rotors soon, pads are still good, hps hawks ~15k on them so they're still good for a while.

But good question.. any answers?

take the pads and rub them on the street road to make them not smooth again, a little trick i've learned over the years.
