Calling TSX owners with brembo blanks
I've read on tirerack that they are great, but the hub part rusts, looking like crap.
Anyone have pics? I want to see if it really looks like crap, or if those people are just anal.
Reason I ask is that I am thinking about going with Akebono Proact pads with Brembo blanks to replace the pos stock pads and warped rotors.
I'd rather replace them with ones from heeltoe or something, but most shops around my area will only install what they sell. Absolutely no carry in parts allowed, as they cannot guarantee their work with carry-in parts.
Thanks for ur help.

I had Brembo blanks for my front brakes some time ago. Sorry, no pictures but trust me. You’ll want to put a suitable type of paint on those bake hubs prior to installing.
You’ll be kicking yourself later on how noticeably rusty those things will look after a few thousand miles of driving in the wet. It kind of makes the whole wheel package look dirty as it contrasts against the TSX’s silver toned wheels and will probably be more noticeable than you think.
It’s weird though, because since they have black hats, the stock disks hardly warrant attention.
Local shops around here are a pain also. –Same general policy regarding replacement parts. I had a shop put their rotors and pads (don’t recall the brand name) on for the rear wheels and the hub section rusted on those disks too.
I eventually got used to the look once both sets of brakes rusted up fully – but it was bothersome, especially when cleaning the wheels.
I’m now running fully stock in the brake department. No noise, no rust. – Just less aggressive with the brakes nowadays. I'm hoping that'll work out well for the next two years or so.

I have Brembo blanks with Hawk ceramics at all corners. In the picture, you can see the center part of the disc is rusted.
I thought about painting the center portion with high temperature resistant paint, but never got around to it. I do like the performance of these blanks over OEM, and I would purchase another set when it's time.

The rust is superficial. No problem getting the wheel off, although the hub centric rings tend to stick onto the disc. Using a impact driver to get the screws off that hold the disc in place and a mallet help get the disc off.
