Buying TSX in CT, suggestions?

Well I'm considering a 2006 TSX but of course want to get the best price. I do have a trade in (2001 Chevy Tracker LE 4WD w/leather) and I hate playing the games at the dealership so I'm kinda asking for advise on how to play.

Sticker price $28,505. My friend told me he was given a quote of an out the door price (tax/fee) of $28,700. What prices are fair with trade? I am going to do my own financing with my bank but it seems the dealer REALLY wants me to go through them but I do not want to.

How do I go about this? I love the TSX and the test drive was wonderful. Are the 2007 models coming soon? When is it a good time to buy the 2006 model? thanks guys!

I would (and did) do all your playing via email; that way you're sure not to cave into sales pressure. I'm not sure where in CT you are, but I didn't not get a good feeling from Executive in North Haven. But when you do decide which dealerships you're willing to negotiate with, FIRST get your quotes via email, THEN mention that you have a trade-in. Make them hold to the quote they gave you so they don't pull any funny stuff with numbers on the trade-in.

thanks t

yeah a co-worker told me North Haven has an attitude. Others told me Canton and Manchester seem to be the most friendly but they all play the games. Thanks for the tips, will take them to heart. I was hoping that the 2007 models are coming as I think the one in Canton has a bunch of TSX's on lot that are not moving.

Unfortunately the '07s won't be showing up on the lots until December or so. You can check out the "how much did you pay...." thread to see what the majority of people got for deals. $28,500 seems to be the norm for an '06 with Nav.

^^ use these websites, you might find it helpful. The carbuyingtips.com has 10 or 12 chapters, which cover everything a smart buyer needs to know - I found this. info very helpful, i suggest reading it all. the fightingchance.com website offers a packet, i think it's like $30 which they email you on everything you need to know about most cars in the market..and how to fax in bids to dealers, etc. they say it works great, check it out and hopefully you find either one of those websites useful!

I don't know where in CT you are, but I had good luck at Acura of Auburn in Mass, right off exit 10 on the turnpike. No B.S., no hard sell and they lived up to everything we agreed to. The salesman said they offer financing if I wanted to apply but didn't have to. He said that they have a great service dept but I could go to a Honda dealer for minor stuff like oil changes if it is more convenient.

I ordered a pretty rare color combo and the salesman said that it could take up to six weeks. He called me back in three weeks and said that the car was physically on their lot. I was impressed that they waited until they physically had the car to make sure there was no mistakes regarding the colors.

Play them all, via e-mail or fax. Direct to sales manager. Use the phone too.

After they are all played in about three rounds, you gotta schlep the trade to each to find the lowest net deal. Figure two or more rounds on the trade. I find that they will move on the trade, there is a range of appraised price.

Don't rule out the north haven, you are in a small market and facing a price cartel.

When you get frustrated, don't say you are walking to honda or subi or infinity or lexus. Tell them you are buying a tsx, and you will get the lowest price from a competitor. Be prepared to go out of state.

A good dealer is going to find a way to put you in a car. Carefull with options. Some are going to include things like free loaners, wheel locks and mud flaps. Make sure you spec them if you want them. They make so much profit on options, there is room to negotiate if you want them. Most profitable is financial stuff like extended warranties.

Study the low rate financing. Consider a short term lease, the tsx may not be something you want for five years. You'll probably have different wants in 2008.

Study the final bill carefully. They tried to add on vehicle id etching for about $500 at the moment of closing. The etching is there allright, I just didn't pay for it.

thanks for the advice guys! Auburn, MA is far from me but I would be willing to go there to check it out. Its about 1.5hrs away from me but I tend to go up to Wrentham so it wouldn't be a prob if I went out there. I think I've actually seen that dealership off i-90 on the way to the outlets in wrentham. I'm willing to drive far for the best deal... but again i am in no rush. I'd like to have a new car by Sept. so i think i have a lot of time to research this and play their game. I just hate the deception game. A friend of mine bought a Hyundai and he said they were the worst, add fees here take them out but add them there take them out but add them here, he said he just took the contract and ripped it up and walked out!? they ran after him begging for him to come back and he did and they gave him all these accesories for his Sante Fe. That seemed kinda ballsy no? hahahaha. actually it was funny.

again thanks for the advise, i take it to heart!!!
