Buying Extended Warranty

Has anyone done this AFTER owning the car for a time?

I have an 06 TSX with 30K, and the dealership I bought from is saying the best they can do is 60month/60K for $1800 (immediate discount from $2350).

Anyone have any experience buying these after owning the car? How much? Do different dealerships offer different prices?

www.curryacura.com has some decent prices, here are the $0 deductible plans ($100 deductible is $100 cheaper):

5 years
100k miles
$1,030.00

6 years
70k miles
$795.00

6 years
100k miles
$1,140.00

6 years
120k miles
$1,340.00

7 years
70k miles
$970.00

7 years
100k miles
$1,235.00

7 years
120k miles
$1,485.00

8 years
100k miles
$1,435.00

8 years
120k miles
$1,685.00

I'm tempted to get the 8 years / 120k miles but would need to see whats covered and whats not first. I might also wait till the car is 2-3 years old if I decide to get it..

Thanks! I wonder what the price scale will be for me, since I have 2 years and 30k on the car? I will give them a call Tuesday.

Be advised, the prices apparently go up with time and mileage...

Does it now? I got those prices using my info (2008 w/5k miles), if that's the case I'm going to go to my local dealer with these prices to see if they can beat it. If not, I'll just get it from Curry in the next few weeks.

these extended warranties add to the factory warranty right?

for example i have 4 year / 50K warranty from factory

so if i buy an 8 year / 120K extended warranty, it makes my car warrantied for 12 years / 170K ?

I don't think it adds to it, thats what you're warranted for after the original purchase date.

The warranty adds to the factory warranty, you only get an additional 70 k miles. I got the 8yr/120k zero deductable for 1500$.

Be sure of what you're buying (don't just look at brochures). I was sold an "Acura extended warranty" (what the brochure at the sale said, with the Acura logo all over the brochure) with my CPO that turned out to be a Hendrick Auto Group extended warranty, not AcuraCare.

Called Curry and they can do an additional

4yr/48k for $1300
5/60 for $1500
5/84 for $1700

I didn't realize the factory warranty was 4/50 though, so now I have to rethink... I was going to sell and get a new 09 TL, but I don't know if I like it... Argh.
