Bumpy Breaking

This is my first car and a couple of times, I have hit the brakes hard. During these hard breakings, the tires squeal which is normal but the car seems to get really jerky and makes a sound similar to "thud thud thud thud....." until the car finally stops. What exactly is going on and is this dangerous to the car? I know it happens to cars when the ground is wet after it rains but it happens to me also when its dry and im breaking hard. Any help would be appreciated. Also how long would stock tires and brake pads last under a moderately rough use of the car?

EDIT

im hoping its just the ABS doing its job.

That's the ABS activating. It's normal.

The ABS activates whenever the wheels are about to lock up, regardless if the road surface is wet or dry. So, it's normal.

1. The Thud-Thud-Thud sound is the ABS activating.
2. The ABS system activates when it detects that one of the wheels is going to lock up.
3. It's normal.
4. It's easier to do it on wet roads...so you really must be driving crazy and braking extremely hard.
5. During the breaking-in period, you shouldn't do any hard braking unless you want your rotors to warp.
6. It sounds like you're going beyond moderate use of the car, so it's hard to say how long it'll last.
7. If you're trying to wear out your brake pads and tires quicker, you'd be better off just replacing them instead of stressing out other components and stuff.

Is that enough lines? =)

Lol, other than OP, everyone else has posted 2-line responses.

Two sentences are fine if they get the point across. They're not fine if they don't use punctuations ;-)
