I would like the brakes to engage faster, rather than to push the
pedal down so far.
Changing to "grabby" pads like Porterfield R4S will give more stopping force with less pedal force. I'm not sure I would define this as having more feel though.

Bigger rotors = possibly higher unsprung weight = possibly slower car...

Just a remark...

kingmotorsports has some stoptech rotors for the tsx. they are 185 each which isnt bad. also, stoptech has some stage 1 or 2 brake its for about ~550. i might go this route after my rotors are alil worned out. im not quiet sure if 2k brake kits are worth it since im not gonna be racing, but as for now im stick to stock as it isnt so bad.

brembo brakes comparo

I currently drive a 98 CL 3.0 with CAI. I am looking for tighter handling and a stick so I had the unique opp to drive a new TL 6M for an hour in the twisties then borrow a TSX 6M for 48hrs!! pretty sweet huh?

The brembos are a huge difference, but I wouldn't say the TSX sucked as bad as my CL. The TSX came down alot fast than my CL and the brembos on the TL were 911 carrera style stoppage. Almost too fast for the street, I was worried about the poor fk's behind me (the motorcycle promblem) you stop on a dime but they can't...

I'm deciding to upgrade to TSX or TL (still not sure yet) but the brembos were sweet. However the light tossible TSX was fun as shit for 7 grand less so its tuff. Acura has created their own competition. I was looking at EVO's and RX8's to boot for my 30 grand so it get really rough trying to make a decision...might just through Eibach on the CL and call it quits!

Been doing a lot of pondering and researching on the brake issue since I started this thread, came up with some interesting numbers. The first number is a 60-0mph stopping distance, the second is a 30-0mph stopping distance. I grabbed a wide variety of cars/trucks/SUV's, trying to understand how bad "bad" is, compared to other vehicles.....

TSX 127.87/33.13
'04 TL 115.96/28.46 (6sp manual with Brembo's)
530i 119.33/30.88 (ha! TL beat it, in stopping anyway)
Accord 130.48/32.2 (was wrong about accord worse than TSX)
Prius 131.65/30.88 (prolly the skinny tires make it suck)
F150 145.45/35.74 (yes, the truck)
Solara 122.69/31.27 (wish I could have found 4 door Camry SE)
G35 111.0/28.0 (the winner?)
G35(coupe) 123.49/30.45 (interesting that its worse....)
Expedition 135.75/33.77
4Runner 134.12/32.81
Pilot 131.08/32.92
Mazda6 120.47/29.48
Matrix 124.61/30.88

Okay, 'bout the only things I could make out of these numbers are: 1) The TSX isn't all that bad, not the best, but hey, retest it with PZero/Nero's or Contiextreme's on the car and I bet it's loads better..... 2)The wide variety of numbers, some of them seeming a bit odd (such as the G35 coupe having worse braking numbers than the heavier 4 door?!!?) that conditions would make a big diffence as well....

BTW, the numbers came from Edmund's "full tests" So, I don't think I'll run out and get $2400 Brembo's just yet...

There's a Rotora Big Brake Kit out now too. www.adventon.com has them for $1200 or so. Considerably cheaper than the Brembo kit. Does anybody know anything or have any experience with Rotora kits? If it's decent I'm thinking about getting it....

I was also thinking about the rotora and at 1200 it's a good deal compared with brembo and stoptech. The question that i have is the following: the rear TSX rotors are (if i remember correctly) 10.3". If i do go with the Rotora BBK i will have a "spare" braking systm that will just sit in the garage. Can i swap the rear brake system (rotora, calipers, line, the whole thing) with the fronts. Then that will solve the problem of the rears looking too small, plus t will be like buying 2 Big Brake Kits for the price of 1 (buy 1 get 1 free). Looking into purchasing the kit in about 2 months or if still broke $$ i'll upgrade just rotors and pads. Is there a technition or parts people that can "gauentee" that the front system will work on the rears? Any Help Will Help

Well, the first problem I can see is that you will lose your parking brake. Second, without a proportioning valve you'll lock the rears long before locking the front and the ABS system will be getting a workout on every stop.

swaping the stock front to the rear will cause the braking system unbalanced, which definitely is not a good way to go~

know wut kinda big brake kit you wanna get first, then go find a really professional garage and ask them if they can make a balanced rear braking set (with bigger drilled/slotted rotors, etc) to work with the front system, in that case i guess it'll be fine

from the A-spec prototype page
-----------------------------------------
Prototype sport suspension with track tuned shocks and springs
Modulo sport exhaust
Brembo prototype front brakes
18-inch wheels
Yokohama 235/40 ZR tires

IF we want to upgrade the brake, we should upgrade the tire as well I guess..

Say that the TSX had very grippy racing tires on, what would make the most significant decrease in stopping distance?

Brake pads
Larger Rotors
Crossdrilled / slotted rotors
Calipers (but same stock pad compound)

How would you rank them in order of importance??

That depends on a couple things speedyturtle. For street driving you'll probably notice the biggest difference with pads. Bigger rotors or slotted/drilled rotors will dissipate more heat than the stock rotors so they will work better after repeated stops and stops from very high speeds. Bigger calipers generate more clamping force but they won't fit on the stock rotors so it's tough to compare them separately.
