Brakemotive Brake Pad Shim Question

Brakemotive Brake Pad Shim Question
Can someone here who has installed the Brakemotive pads and rotors tell me whether the shims are physically attached to the brake pads or are they seperate? This affects whether to use brake grease or brake quiet paste, and I'd like to be sure I have the right stuff while waiting for the brakes to arrive. Thanks.

I've also never heard of a brake shim. All brake pads and rotors and calipers should be nice and square. No need to shim anything.

Actually, the vast majority of quality pads use shims between the back of the pad and the caliper pistons or the caliper itself on single piston calipers. They are not there to affect fit. They are there to prevent brake squeal. It is common for some OEM applications to have 2 shims per pad. A new set of OEM shims for some cars can cost as much as a set of replacement pads, though the old shims usually can be reused. I was just curious as to the shims on the Brakemotive pads but they just arrived so I can check them.

If anyone else is curious, they are shimmed but the shims are attached, so for purposes of disc brake quiet vs disc brake grease, they are treated as unshimmed pads. The quiet paste or spray is appropriate. Grease should still be used on sliding surfaces and pins.
