Brake Pads - What's good?

Hey,

I'm well due now for a new set of brake pads. I'm probably going to have my buddy put them on for me, but I'd like to know what a good set is or what a good set usually cost. I only need to replace the front pads, the rears are still fine.

I do a lot of stop/go driving around town because of my job, put about 250-300 miles on every week.

If you have any suggestions for a good set of brake pads, I'd appreciate it a lot. They need to be reliable.

Originally had Hawk HPS front + rear pads. Braking improved and they did dust more than OEM. Had to switch them because they were squeeking way too much (even after my rotors were resurfaced)

Went with Akebono Super Street Pads a couple months ago. Dusts less than the HPS, they're cheaper than the Hawks, and it's about the same braking performance compared to the HPS.

Good luck

I have the same pads as SHY but I get a little more brake dust than the Hawks HPS. I'm using Rotora Slotted rotors on the fronts.

I have to agree they perform about the same with the slight edge and bite for the Hawks.

I have Hawk HPS all 'round and the only complaint I have is the brake dust. Otherwise, I like 'em.

Shoot a PM to Excellerate asking him exactly what you're looking for. He can help you out and even install them for you at his place down in Branford, CT. I went down last weekend and he hooked me up with some Stoptech Slotted Rotors and Rotora H2 Pads that I like a lot.

Sclass88, gotta love the Chaparral's. My family had one for a good 18 years (was much older, sat in a garage for 10 years before we bought it then tacked on our +18), only reason for getting rid of it was we lacked a car to tow it with since the lease ran out on our van. Miss that tank
