Bluetooth Voice Dial

Hi everyone,

I got a 2006 CGP Navi about two weeks ago. So far, I love just about everything about it. I just got a Sprint A900 phone that (mostly) works with the bluetooth. The phone has a voice dial feature, which lets me make a call by saying any name in my address book. Is there any way to use this instead of having to program in all of the names into the HFL?

Thanks for any help!

Kelly

Edit: It says this on the Samsung website:

Hands-Free Profile:
Bluetooth technology connects the phone to a wireless Bluetooth-enabled car kit. Incoming calls ring to the hands-free headset or device. Calls can be received by pressing a button on the headset or device. For dialing, four functions are supported: recent call dial, voice dial, speed dial, and number dial. Increase or decrease the volume by using the volume key on the side of the phone.

Unfortunately, the website and the manual fail to mention how to use the four dialing functions...

I could not find any way to program an address book into the HFL. I had to program names
and numbers one person at a time. I think this is what you were asking. If not, sorry.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to use the phonebook from the phone without making the call on the phone, then transfering the call to the HFL. I will look in the TL forums for an answer...

Nope, it's vehicle phonebook only.

Wow, I am amazed that a Samsung has good BlueTooth capabilities with HFL. I haven't seen any on the HFL site.

I never said it was good. When I first bought the phone, it would connect, then disconnect whenever I tried to make or receive a call. They just released a new firmware update that connects and allows me to make and receive calls, but the back button doesn't work. If I want to disconnect, I have to press the end button on the phone or wait for the other end to hang up. There's also some problems with ghost callers (ie, the car starts ringing and saying I have an incomming call, but no one has called).

There's supposed to be another firmware update coming soon that concentrates on fixing all these annoying bluetooth issues.

Wow... the bluetooth option is the one feature of the '06 models that I wanted the most. It stinks that you have to use the HFL phonebook to make calls on your phone, but I guess you put the time up front, and never have to worry about it again. It's like doing twice the work though, eh (entering #'s into the phone's memory AND the car's memory). Runt --- do you think the issues you're experiencing are generalized ones? Or do you think some of it relates to the Samsung phone itself (i.e., not as compatible, etc.)?

Ah well... I guess I don't feel as bad for not having the HFL in my '05...

I think the whole way Samsung does BlueTooth is the limiting factor here. There is only one Samsung phone from all the wireless phone carriers that works (per HFL.com website) and it is the pocketPC series.

Mortorla, Sony Ericcson, and Nokia seem to be the only ones working well with everyone.
