Blue "courtesy" LED?
What exactly is the purpose of the blue LED courtesy light on the ceiling, between the front lights? I can't quite figure out why it's there I didn't even notice it after a bunch of night driving, one of my passengers had to point it out to me... Maybe a stupid question, but just wondering if it has a purpose
Thanks

Hehe, that's what I thought, but it didn't seem too necessary so I thought maybe I was missing something.
Robert, Yeah I got my car at Davis, decent deal, although I don't think it was anything to write home about.. I got about 1k off the sticker and over book value for my trade so I was pretty satisfied.
Silly blue light

It's just for coolness factor. I'm sure most MT drivers don't need a light to find the shifter. If you do please pull over and take the keys out of the ignition. :P

Red is better for night vision but with all the oncoming headlights affecting your night vision anyway that's probably not a big issue. Personally I think blue is cooler looking but then I'm highly biased.

I just got an 08 Odyssey and it has an amber LED courtesy light and would like to replace with the blue that is in the TSX, can anyone provide the part number or suggest where to buy an aftermarket replacement?

yeah my old Accord has a yellow (amber) light in there. I've used it in the past to help see things without turning on the main light. I noticed the blue light last night and thought it looks much cooler than the Accord's yellow light was. Plus it matches the gauge color.
The TSX really is so similar to the Accord, not that it's a bad thing.

I agree that the blue matches better plus my Ody is blue with grey interior so the blue courtesy LED would be nice if i can figure switch them.

I had some friends in the car for the first time this past weekend and that's the very first thing they noticed. The blue light shining on the Nav screen (Nav was not on). They couldn't figure out where it was coming from so one of them finally asked. Cool to see a thread about it today.

I put blue LEDs in all the interior lights - just to match
The only problem is at night - the blue light is not good to read by because yellows turn white. Bummer if you're reading a map or something.

I thought it was to illuminate the whole console area, but it surely does light up the stick well.

No, both AT and MT have the blue overhead light. In fact, when I had an AT TSX loaner, the silver bezel around the AT lever REALLY shows off that overhead blue light and you cannot possibly miss it. Without a silver bezel in the MT, sometimes you'd never know it was up there.

The owners manual does not list the LED courtesy light, I looked again just in case. Plus I'm looking for the part number to the blue in the TSX so i can replace the weak amber LED in my Odyssey.

Make a hole, coming thru!
You can dismantle it and see ... but I've seen some cars' internal lighting components hard-wired, that is the switches or bulbs are soldered in. Not so easy to mod. YMMV of course.
