Blitzsafe XM Compatible Edition
Blitzsafe XM Compatible Edition
I just received the Blitzsafe unit for the iPod that is allows the use of XM. So far, so good. I can now switch to CP-C for the iPod as well as XM1 and XM2 with good sound in each case (no sound crossing). Let's see if it continues to successfully switch to CP-C.
I would go to www.blitzsafe.com and email them or call (look under Contact). I'm not sure if the resellers have this newer version yet. I bet if you call them, they can tell you where to buy it or buy it directly from them.
I emailed Blitzsafe about this adapter, and this is what I received back:
The HON/AUX V.2X gives you access to your XM and a aux input, not direct
iPod interfacing. Your headunit will recognize another source and display
CD-C when playing the AUX audio. There is no need for a separate switch. You
will need to purchase a UII (Universal iPod Interface) to get the direct
audio and charging of your iPod through the bottom dock connector.
We are currently taking orders for this piece at this time with no
backorders. The cost is $74.99 and we have other authorized dealers online
that run specials at any given time.

I e mailed and got this response from Blitzsafe:
"We just came out with out Hon/M-Link1 V.2X which will allow you to integrate
your iPod into your car stereo without losing use of your factory XM unit.
We are shipping those units as we speak and you can call us directly to
place an order over the phone. The price for that unit is $110 plus shipping
and handling."
I'm placing my order later this week (pending a few other financial things that may take priority over my iPod in my car.)
I'll keep everyone updated on my experience when I get it, and of course I'll have pictures of where I end up mounting my iPod and all that.

VERY interested if this works, as Blitzsafe has been very unresponsive on their message boards to requests for timelines on this product. I would love to hear that it works consistently for three or four weeks, as some people have had their BS units crap out after a couple of weeks. Let us know!!

everyone,
The HON/AUX DMX V.2X and the HON/M-Link1 V.2X are available. The HON/AUX DMX allows you to keep your factory XM and gives you aux input. The HON/M-Link1 V.2X alos allows you to keep your factory XM and gives you a bottom dock connector for your iPod.

OK, next: I just sent an email to Blitzsafe as follows. I'll let you know of any reply.
Blitzsafe,
I own a 2006 Acura TSX (with Navigation) and I am interested in the HON/M-Link1 V.2X. I want to know how this unit works with the 2006 TSX as opposed to the 05/04 models. The 2006 has a factory AUX port (1/8" stereo) in the center armrest compartment (unlike previous models), but it does not have very good audio quality. I have read about your product and believe you might have the solution for my iPod integration desires.
How does the switching work on the 2006 TSX which has in dash 6 cd changer, XM, AM/FM, and AUX already? I would like to add your product without compromising any of the others if that is possible. If so I will order one. Can you provide any guidance as to the compatibility or any issues I would run into using this device?
Also, about the availability of the device, I have not been able to find any online retailers selling this, only ones that say "coming soon". I had thought it was released and available. Can you direct me to some appropriate place to purchase it?
Thanks, *signed*

Well, here is their fast and interesting, but not complete reply. I may purchase one of these in a few days, but I'm going to mull it over before I blow another $100+ on this car and have it end up being useless.
You can definitely use our HON/M-Link1 V.2X. It will give you better sound and allow you to charge your iPod as well. You can contact us at the number below for ordering or you could visit any of our online dealers like www.logjamelectronics.com.

I have been having a problem with this model as I did with the previous models - it won't always allow the HU to switch to CD-C which would mean you can't hear anything out of the iPod. When it works though, it works great. I spoke to Victor yesterday. They are aware of the problem and are working on it. He said to check back next week. We'll see. This is not a new problem.
Can someone describe how it's connected? I, too, am interested to see how this pans out. Although, I already got the parts to do the AUX3 trick, I haven't had time to do it yet. This sounds like a better option (if it's not buggy). I guess I should wait to see how it pans out, but it's $100 (for the non-ipod one) at Logjam. Yikes.

Do you only experience the "non-recognition" when the iPod isn't on when you start your car? I'd like to use this unit for aux sound (not an iPod), and was thinking that it may not recognize it if the power is cut out of the aux input...
For the life of me, I cannot find a pattern when it will or won't recognize the iPod. The folks at Blitzsafe are also having trouble consistently replicating the problem so they can solve it.
Keep in mind that the model I am using is specifically for an iPod as it has the iPod plug on the end for charging and audio.
I would check out http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s...tml/index.html - they have it for $69.99, although perhaps you may wait until they finally get this bug fixed.

Hmmm... for the price, I might be willing to be the guinea pig on the aux version (RCA female connectors) of this new Blitzsafe adapter. The Blitzsafe units only appear to have potential issues with nav/XM owners anyway, right? I'm sure some '04 non-nav member would take it off my hands if I put it on the black market...
Another question for you JP... although the CD-C isn't always recognized by the headunit, do you ALWAYS have XM1/XM2 recognition and good XM1/XM2 reception (i.e., volume levels not low)? Keep us all posted on anything you hear... and thanks for the info. I was originally resigned to having to run a relay to make sure the XM volume didn't drop out...

I ordered today from www.discountcarstereo.com, the price there was $20 cheaper than ordering directly from blitzsafe. I called blitzsafe earlier in the day and they said they were currently manufacturing a new lot so they wouldn't ship until at least Monday (20th February).
So than I searched google for the model number and found that discount car stereo had them in stock, I ordered and less than an hour later I got the shipment notification. I'm very impressed with them so far.
According to the info at discount car stereo the HON/M-Link1 V.2X allows TSX owners with factory XM to retain the XM functionality and have a high quality iPod input as well. This unit comes with the iPod connector on it already (no aux input, only iPod) and it charges the iPod when it is plugged in (as well as 20 minutes after the vehicle is turned off if the iPod is left plugged in.
It says that the unit will work with 2006 TSXs. It also says that control remains with the iPod, you will not be able to control the iPod through the radio, although it makes no mention of the steering wheel controls. I'll report on that when I receive and install mine later this week.
I'm thinking of cutting a small hole in the bottom or side of the "not an ashtray" compartment to run the iPod wire into there so I can put my iPod in there, either that or I may cut a small hole into the side or back of the CD storage compartment above that so I can run the iPod wire up through there and leave my iPod in the CD storage compartment.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an install guide? I'm confident I'll be able to find the right plug for it when I get into the stereo, but I'm not 100% sure where I'm trying to get to. Do I need to remove the CD storage tray? I think that's it, but I'm not sure how to do it and I don't want to break anything.
I'll search around a little bit, but if anyone knows where I can find a good one, that would be very helpful, thanks! I'll have pictures and reports later this week as to how this thing works and sounds.
Edit:
Here is where I got all my information from.

I'm getting my xm-compatible HON/M-Link1 V.2X iPod adapter in the mail tomorrow, so hopefully everything will go OK with it. I'm going to install it this weekend in the center console bin. I'll post to let you know how everything goes.
BTW, I ordered mine from engif for $69, which seems to be cheaper than most of the other places I've seen.

I have an 04 TSX w/ Nav. I bought the HON/M-Link1 V.2 the first week of Feb. This first adaptor would only work if I disconnected the Nav plug that connects to the BS unit. Yea the audio sounds great but no NAV.
After RMA, 2wks, and Enfig sending me the new unit HON/M-Link1 V.2X, AGAIN, same exact problem. Now i'm really like WTF are these guys thinking selling crap that doesn't work.
While it's an easy install I am highly disappointed with these Blitzsafe products. Quality control seems to be a big problem with them.
Now I have to call Enfig back to do another RMA. I'll keep you posted how the next one works.

Crap... this is why I've held out for so long. I haven't heard of one person yet that has gotten a "clean" version of the Blitzsafe v2 --- I'm still running an FM modulator for my dvd audio... but was hoping that the finally solved this problem! In 2+ years, I'm still surprised that not one aftermarket manufacturer has figured out how to add an aux input that is recognized by the headunit, and doesn't kill the audio levels of XM...
Jaws... let me know how it works man. I still don't think I'm willing to pull the trigger on this one...

Ok, I installed the M-Link1 V.2X in my 05 TSX over the weekend, and so far, everything working great! I haven't experienced any issue with switching between CD-C and XM, and the audio levels of both seem good. In fact, I think the iPod link sounds as good as the in-dash CD, and better than the XM (but I don't think the XM has deteriorated any since installing the Blitzsafe).
I mounted the unit under the stereo, which was a little hard to find a place to fit it and still get the cubbie and "not an ashtray" back in. I then routed the iPod cord through the center console to the armrest bin. I drilled a small whole in the corner of the power jack area, and ran the cord through there. It looks great. I followed Honda instructions on how to mount a CD-Changer in the console, and originally started removing the center console, but then I found out this wasn't required. All that's needed to be removed is the cubbie, "not an ashtray," and the gear shift/cup holder cover. Then, the power jack piece can pop right out.
I'll continue testing the unit, and will let you know how everything is going after it's used some more in a few days. Hopefully, I won't experience any problems with it.

I'd be ordering the aux version rather than the iPod version, but I assume the glitches were the same in either unit...
To all Toronto members: I picked up the blitzsafe v1 @ Nu Tek Electronics in Concord (Keele & Langstaff) for $99 before tax, I believe they also have the icelink available too. If you're like me and don't like waiting for cross boarder mailing it's a good alternative.
I'm using my Ipod in a 2006 TSX Navi with the Belkin Auto Kit (basically a car charger that has a line-out jack on the CLA piece - $30 from various internet dealers) and a 1 foot 1/8"M-M cable ($5 at Radio Shack) to connect the Belkin with the aux in.
Sound quality is great (as it is line level, not headphone), charging works perfectly (uses the CLA in the center console).
What, if anything, does Blitzsafe give that I don't already have??

Yea, i talked to Christian at Enfig after receiving my 2nd bad unit. He said that Blitzsafe is aware of bug and working on a new chip. He said he was the first to try it and noticed the problem as well. Unfortunately for him many orders were shipped out and all are being returned. He said Blitzsafe told him they should have the problem resolved in a few weeks.
I read in some other post how some Nav's use different protocols which seems to be throwing off Blitzsafe. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon cuz i'm not enjoying the workaround fix of turning car on/off to get the unit to work.

I spoke to Victor the other day. They have figured out what the issue is - supposed to do with a delay at the start. They are working on getting this fixed. He said to check back next week.
Also, they are working on a unit that will allow you to move up and down the song list from the steering wheel. They think it won't be ready though until later in the year.
