I received the replacement chip today and swapped it out of the unit.

Good news: it seems to switch properly to and from CD-C (need to test over several days though before we know for sure it works)

Bad news: the XM seems a bit muffled, like you are listening under a blanket. I probably need to recheck my connections, but I doubt that would be the issue - otherwise, I would think the sound would cut in and out or have static.

Comments?

Works Now!

I mentioned in a previous post the new chip worked, but the sound on XM was muffled. I realized I made a mistake and having fixed it, it now seems to work as it should. The HU switches each time to CD-C and XM sound is fine.

Regarding getting this at Best Buy, I'm not sure if it is for sale yet, but you can find it on BB's website, although it says out of stock.

Cool deal...I wish they would hurry and ship mine...

The guy from Enfig keeps telling me it'll hopefully ship this week...that's what he said last week...

Well, other than 1 instance, it is working great. There was 1 time where it would not switch to CD-C in 3 or 4 days. You can tell if it will work because if it is working properly, there should a delay of a few seconds when switching to one of the XM stations. If no delay, that there is a problem.

I don't think that would be an issue, but others reading these boards may know better. Let us know how it works out for you.

I'm looking for the "aux" version as opposed to the iPod version, but want to clarify where all of you guys got your updated Blitzsafe units from... was it logjam or enfig? I've still been using an FM transmitter for my DVD unit...

I originally bought it from Enfig, but have dealt directly with Blitzsafe on exchanges and the sending of the right chip.

BTW...I had one more a instance where it wouldn't switch to CD-C today. They seem few and far between, but it really shouldn't happen at all. I will be calling Blitzsafe next week to see what the deal is.

I just got back from driving around for an hour, it's still all good.

I disconnected, reconnected, switched from XM1, XM1, DC, CD-C and all is well.

The connection is EXCELLENT! It sounds as good as my CD Player if not better. Anyway, I'll let you guys know after a month how things are going. So far, it's been worth the wait.

I ran my cable from the gas well along with the cup holder and out near the belt clip/buckle and it's laying on top of my cup holder area right now. I'm going to leave it there until I figure what I really want to do with my Nano. So far that's a good place since the arm rest is there and I can control my ipod.

so far so good

I just got off the phone with Victor. The last set of chips sent (such as the one I received) were incorrectly made by the programmer. So, while my current chip works much of the time, they will be sending out another chip to replace that which should work 100% of the time.

I realize there have been lots of stops and starts with Blitzsafe, but I do respect that they do seem to be straight up with me when I speak with them and they seem to be trying. I can see why some folks are getting frustrated, but for the cost, if this works properly, there is nothing better IMO. Besides, I am getting good at pulling the cubby out of the dash.

Savio, I m drooling, but I want to make sure the whole quality controll thing is worked out first. I guess Iwould think that BS would have a 05 TSX HU with XM/Nav to test this on before sending JPLevine another bad unit... But maybe just some type of emulator program to test the chips against.

If it works well for a month or two for both of you, I will buy one.

MODS, PLEASE DON'T CLOSE THIS THREAD!!

Been working fine so far. I think I've come to a point where I stopped listening to XM. I guess I'll see, me and my Ipod are moonlighting at the moment

I'll keep you guys up to date as far as how things go...I'll give you some pictures just to show you how it looks and stuff too....

Edit: I just took some pictures and a long video clip for you guys...I will post them later tonight...

Thumbs up

Here is the video clip. You can see how it changes from song to song and from CD to XM1, XM2, back to CD-C....

I have my volume at around 18-20 and that is pretty loud...

Hi sorry for interrupting :P. Do you get some static noise even when the headunit isnt playing anything? This happens to me when in CD or CD-C (Blitzsafe) mode. The static noise is always constant regardless of the volume, like a hissing sound. It's not affecting the sound quality when playing musics, but when changing songs it gets a bit annoying.

I have an 05 with Navi and XM. I want to keep the XM so i'll need the "Blitzsafe HON/AUX DMX V.2X".

What else do I need to connect my IPOD nano to it?

I see that there is a "Blitzsafe Universal iPod Interface UII" but that thing goes for $60 bucks. There is also a "P.I.E. 3.5 - RCA 6MM RCA to 3.5MM Adapter Cable". I just want to be clear on what I would need besides the Hon/Aux Dmx v.2x. thanks.

NJTSXMan...I also have a 2005 with XM and Navi. All you need is the Blitzsafe Universal iPod Interface UII - that plugs directly to the bottom of the iPod and charges it as well. You don't need any other adapters. Note it does not provide universal left/right RCA jacks, just the plug for the iPod. Enfig.com is selling it for $50. You may want to check with them first to see if they have the new chip that will enable proper usage with XM. This chip would have come out in the last week or so.

The Blitzsafe unit gets plugged into the bottom of the head unit. The plug that was there gets plugged into the Blitzsafe unit. You then just run the cable that comes out of the Blitzsafe unit to the iPod and plug it into the bottom. Actually pretty simple.

I've got the non-ipod version, and the volume is a bit low. I'm going to get a line driver and see if I can fix it... :-/ (Also, it seems to have excessive amounts of low bass, but that won't matter if I listen mostly to podcasts....)

I would suggest the iPod version if you know you will only use this specifically for an iPod. I just think you get a better connection. Otherwise, I believe you use the headphone jack, so you need to play with the volumne of the iPod as well as the HU whereas with the direct connection, it is a line-out feed from the iPod.

Thats weird, I did exactly the same setup. And yet there is static noise, regardless engine running or not. But negligible when playing musics anyway. Btw the volume now doesnt become loud at all and I really have to jack it up to like 20+

wow dood...that's loud....

My IPOD plays way better than any other device in my car. I keep my volume between 15-20 and 20 being really loud.

Of course, I twiddled with my settings for my songs also so that always helps sound quality...

Alright, enough. Seems like this thread won't die, but it really should have a life in Audio & Video and not here, so I'm just gonna close it.
