ok that is what I am going to buy.

From everything I have searched and read this product will work with my Navi and I will not need to buy anything else. It will also work with my new Ipod Video buy pluggin in the bottom both charging and playing music via the Aux button.

Basically I plug this product into the AUX and then the Navi into the interface...then run the cord out to my Ipod.

if anything I wrote is wrong please tell me so I dont waste my time and money

You're pretty much on the mark. There are threads you can search on regarding how to pull the cubby out to get to the bottom of the head unit.

Also, if you have a 2005 Navi, this will disable the use of XM. If you have a 2004 Navi, then you are good to go.
