and come on people, can you make up your own mind? I would never buy a color because a bunch of people said I should/shouldn't. You have to pick the one you like best

well the problem is for me is that I don't get to see the car in person until i pick it up. Im off in college and there aren't any acura dealers anywhere near me for me to look at personally. And the only black is coiming in 10/10, which is when in on break. I really only have pictures to judge the car, though in my mind black is really nice i know for sure grey is good. But looking at the pictures of the black TSX's, and comparing them to the greys, black doesn't seem very photogenic...

glott, what do you mean by that? I mean age well as in it'll still look classic in a few years. I mean silver cars are only going to look nice until one point.
Oh yea, can anyone deny or affirm that black cars will fade?

I don't currently own a black car, but I did a few years ago. Yes, black looks AWESOME on the showroom floor - no sane person will disagree there.
But...
Not only is black a bitch to keep clean, the WORST part of a black car is the fine scratches that show after a few months. I NEVER took my car through an automatic carwash and I only used 100% cotton cloths to wash it, but you still end up with fine scratches that look like shit when the sun hits it wrong. I know a lot of people who have also said "never again" after buying black - many more than who were actually happy with their decision after any length of time.

I was coming out of a store today and saw a CG parked near my NBP,..........stopped, looked back and forth a few times at each of them. Those were the two colours I was looking at for my TSX,......couldnt find a CG with 6MT,...so black was the only option. Glad I got it though,.........CG is nice, but I just like black too much and would have ended up with it in the end anyway. Ya, hard to keep clean, shows dirt and scratches blah blah,.........Im one of those ppl that just really likes black cars. The CG will be easier for you to keep looking good etc,........how much of a concern is this for you? If you are willing to put in the time,..........man does the black look good.

not that i don't have the time, or have the effort. Im in college, outdoor "public" lot of 20 cars, Im in Ithaca Ny, think cold and wintery usually. Salt, Snow, outdoors etc, don't know how my car would last in an environment like this. I mean if i was at home, no doubt black cause i have a garage, but in college, i need to know the car can withstand the environment. Plus, i would put a cover on it, but then again - drunk assholes, sees a car covered, decides to screw around with it just because....

Yea, i got to Cornell. The work load here is up the behind. I've already paid for my parking since they rent out a year in advance....horrible isn't it? So right now my friends using my space. If i could, i would definately spent more money to get a better space, perhaps next term or year i can do that. Right now my space is say 2 rows of 15 cars, next to me is an accord and a 3 series. Maybe i'll consider using a car cover? I just don't know if that'll be more positive or negative. I mean most ppl wouldn't go around screwing around with cars, but there are morons out there that'll go "Hey that guy thinks hes special" and go mess around with a covered car intentionally....
I'm not too experted at car stuff right now, being tha tits my first car. are the weather effects pernment? I mean at home, i washed my sisters car and waxed it like once every 2 weeks at least. But her car is silver and you wouldn't notice much difference, well not too drastic of one, after doing everything. But I know black does. When people say take care of your car, I will. But Is the effects of teh weather damaging? I mean If i can return it to the luster when i have time to wash, polish, and quad wax the car I will. But will there be a point where doing everything still wouldn't bring the car back to its original luster?

lol which one is better. If i put 5 coats of wax on it? it should be good enough to handle the winter? I don't use it as a commuter, just something for errands and stuff, so it won't be driven too much if that helps...

Hows this for a better question:
Is the black paint problems inevitable? Will it eventually get dull and nasty? Or will regular wax and polish keep it new forever? (we'll not forever, at least 4-5 years...)

My brother had a red car, never stopped once. If you obey the law, you will not get pulled over, has nothing to do with the color of your car...

well, besides hiding dirt and rainspots, does black keep well? I don't mind the whole thing about temporarily being dirty, i have the patience to clean it when i needs to. But the thing is, im worried that the black will never have its orginal gloss no matter what I do (besides repainting it but thats not an option) (i would've gone for silver too, but its becoming too common and my sisters civic is silver already)

Meh... a good detail can really mask those dreaded swirl marks that many of the blokes on this board are speaking of. Klasse and Meguiars NXT wax do a pretty good job. Yes, it is uber difficult to keep black cars looking their best time after time, but it can be done. It seems to me like you're leaning towards black, but you're looking for forum members to try to talk you out of it because you're afraid you'll regret it...
Go with your gut... or you'll regret it.
You seem concerned enough that you'll take care of the car, so I wouldn't even worry. As someone said, a few good coats of wax before the harsh weather hits makes a big difference. Consider that some people make a living out of making old cars look new...
Just my opinion...

I have a black one and I wouldn't recommend it. One of the stupidest decisions I've made.
1. Impossible to keep clean. Clean look lasts for 2-3 days, then it looks like crap.
2. Heats up like an oven.
3. Scratches (even hairline ones) are most visible on black. Keep in mind TSX paint is very thin.
Save yourself the heartache of watching the condition of your black paint deteriorate and get a lighter color. I wish had chosen the pearl/white. One next to mine in the parking lot - deninitely looks nicer than mine.
Unless you're prepared to wash (AND wax) very frequently, stay away from the black!
