Battery Warranty WTH?

We had the battery in our '06 tsx replaced 07/10 as part of a warranty issue. On Friday we went out to the car and the battery was dead. I tried charging it but there is no continuity between the positive and negative terminals. I took the battery to the acura dealer and they told me I would have to purchase a new battery to replace a battery that is less than a year old . Has anyone run into these issues, or called acura N/A to obtain a replacement?

I would assume there is some quality control on these batteries but could be mistaken. I suspect there may be an alternator problem that has been overlooked.

My 06's battery was replaced at the same time too because they tested it and found that it was going bad. Your regular warranty is probably out already (I don't think they would replace it under the extended warranty).

What I just noticed a couple of weeks ago is that although my original battery was maintenance-free, the replacement battery is not. I opened the battery caps and found the water level really low. I was surprised at how much water that battery could take (I used half of those huge water jugs...I don't know what size it was).

Anyway, the Acura battery sucks. If you do a search for batteries, you'll find that alot of people swap to aftermarket batteries as soon as possible. I was getting ready to replace my battery too, but will wait to see if adding water helps.

I added water, as it was really low, tried charging it up but there was just no continuity. I spoke with the parts counter and they said they give a free replacement battery through the 100 months, and it is not prorated...

Which aftermarket are people going with optimas?

Alot of people go with optimas, but there are also alot of people who went with optimas and then had complaints. Apparently the optimas in the size that we use (51R I think) are bad. In fact, years ago, I believe they were momentarily recalled or the assembly lines were stopped for a while.

I have heard good things about Duralast from Autozone, and that's the one I'll be switching to when it's time for me to replace the battery. I did a bunch of battery searches on this forum and the other TSX forum earlier this month when I thought my battery was a complete goner, so I'd definitely stay away from optima.

I would assume the duralast, interstate and acura battery are likely all made by the same manufacturer. Acura really isn't in the business of making them. Says made in mexico on mine.

I had the 6 yr/100K extended warranty on my 05 and I know that didn't cover the battery, so if you're beyond the original warranty period, even if you have the CPO warranty, I'd be very surprised if it was covered.

I just replaced mine with a Duralast battery. Good so far. I had the original battery in and it was 5 years old.

My original battery (from 04) lasted about 3.5 years. I purchased the Duralast Gold from Autozone at the time and i just had to replace it again. My battery kept dying after the car would sit overnight. It was very slow cranking, but not totally dead. They tested it and said it was still good, but i had them replace it anyways. They pro-rated it and i got about 50% off the new one. So far the new battery has been better, but I still think something is wrong with my car, it's just not acting right during startup... So my point to this is, keep in mind that something could also be causing these batteries to die so fast.
