^ Check your belt. It could be that the alternator belt is slipping under load. I had a problem like that on my first car and I would have dead battery problems when running the A/C because the engine was under load and the belt was slipping.
Hi, what do you mean by the alternator belt slipping under load? I recently had the alternator replaced on my 2007 TSX because I got the battery indicator light and smelled burning rubber/plastic so brought the vehicle back into driveway, opened hood to see if I could find the source, but no visible smoke. The temperature gauge never budged...the vehicle completely quit after a few minutes and would not start up again without jumping the battery. We tested the battery it and was at 90%. We towed it to the Honda dealership (no Acura in the town we were visiting) and they said the alternator was done, but they said nothing about an alternator belt.
I also have AC problems that my home mechanic can't seem to identify (he thinks there's a leak), but the AC only blows cold air when the vehicle is moving. Again, the engine temperature gauge never budges when it seems to blow regular tepid air. I thought this might be due to a relay on the compressor or a fan not working, but could it somehow be related to the alternator belt?
